Project Overview:

The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is driving unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed the EPC contract for the Cheyenne Power Hub Project, one of the largest gas-fired power generation facilities in the United States.

The candidate will act as the Lead Electrical Superintendent for the CCGT Area on the Cheyenne Power Hub Project in Cheyenne, Wyoming, supporting preconstruction planning.

Job Summary:

The Construction Lead Electrical Superintendent is responsible for the activities of the electrical supervision team in the CCGT Area, covering electrical equipment and transformer setting, aboveground and belowground raceway installation, cable pulling, and termination and energization activities. In this role you will direct discipline supervision, managing the organization and direction of project construction activities including supervision of construction craft personnel, cost and schedule. Your leadership will ensure project operations are compliant, safe, timely, and within scope and budget. #LI-SP1

Major Responsibilities:

Leadership/Supervision
  • Supervises and/or directs electrical craft activities in the CCGT Area as assigned.
  • Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft.
  • Participates in the development of contract, subcontract, or vendor scopes of work, budgets, contract formation, and negotiations.
  • Proactively engages with the team's development through CPM, Competency Development/assessment and feedback.


Planning/Productivity
  • Determines electrical workforce requirements and coordinates established area operational plans.
  • Coordinates activities with other disciplines or areas and clients' resident representatives, as instructed by construction management.
  • Supervises the development of construction drawings and sketches, and oversees the development of planning construction methods and procedures.
  • Oversees the development of projections and schedules for workforce, material, and equipment requirements.
  • Reviews and assigns installation work packages to foreman and general foreman.
  • Oversees the reporting of installed quantities to Field Engineering for verification and quantity claiming.
  • Reviews project controls documents on progress relating to cost and schedule, and participates in the development and implementation of level 4 and level 5 project schedules.
  • Oversees the preparation of reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecast.
  • Prepares construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements, and reviews those of subcontractors.
  • Oversees the coordination of construction operations impact on external interfaces, and with other subcontractors and external stakeholders, to plan construction schedules.
  • Monitors tool and equipment usage on site and oversees the preparation of Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables so the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.


Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and to a Zero Accident safety program; maintains, promotes, and cultivates a safe work ethic and work environment within the craft.
  • Able to walk and navigate an active construction site over uneven surfaces, including climbing stairs and ladders, and to work at heights and in confined areas as required.
  • Knowledge of aboveground and belowground raceway installation processes, electrical equipment and transformer setting, cable pull management, termination program management, temporary power installation, and energization.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, including NEC and NFPA 70E.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams, including supervision of foremen, general foremen and direct hire craft.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications, and able to use Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAP) for work packaging, quantity reporting, and progress tracking.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving ability, with the ability to gain the cooperation of other disciplines, subcontractors, and client representatives.
  • Able to work extended work schedules and night shift as required to support the project execution plans and schedules.
  • Must have work authorization within the United States of America.


Prederred Knowledge & Skills
  • Experience on combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) facilities or large gas-fired power generation projects.
  • Experience supporting preconstruction planning from a home office ahead of field mobilization.
  • Familiarity with Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) and Smart Completions/ITR turnover processes.
