DescriptionSchultz Construction in Ballston Spa, NY, is seeking a
Heavy Civil Lead Estimator to develop detailed cost estimates for complex infrastructure projects throughout the Northeast. Projects include water and wastewater treatment plants, large-diameter underground utilities, structural concrete, pump stations, bridges, and DOT infrastructure. Working alongside Project Managers and Estimators, you'll support projects from initial bid through completion and mentor Project Engineers. Responsibilities- Prepare comprehensive cost estimates aligned with project scope, contract requirements, drawings, and specifications.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and define project scopes to support accurate bids.
- Review contract language and project requirements when developing estimates.
- Mentor Project Engineers, review their work, and help develop their estimating skills.
- Track submitted bids, analyze results, and identify opportunities to improve estimating accuracy and processes.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Estimators, and Project Engineers to transition estimates into construction and support timely project execution.
Qualifications- Prior field and estimating experience in civil construction.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract language and prepare detailed cost estimates and competitive bids.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to mentor Project Engineers and collaborate effectively with project teams.
