A healthcare company is looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer to take ownership of its enterprise developer tools ecosystem and help shape the future of software delivery across the organization. This person will play a key role in improving the developer's experience, driving automation initiatives, and ensuring engineering teams have the tools and platforms they need to build and deploy software efficiently. This is a full-time opportunity based in Chicago, IL. In this role, you'll partner with teams across Engineering, Security, Infrastructure, and Architecture to define tooling standards, streamline development workflows, and support large-scale platform initiatives. You'll have the opportunity to influence tooling strategy, evaluate emerging technologies, and help create a more productive and scalable development environment for engineers across the business. Required Skills
8+ years of professional experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Software Development, or a similar technical discipline
Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft Azure cloud services and Azure DevOps tools
Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain automated CI/CD workflows
Working knowledge of source control systems, relational databases, and applications built with Java or .NET technologies
Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Bash, and/or Python
Experience administering developer-focused platforms, tools, and enterprise engineering solutions
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
Exposure to AI-assisted development platforms such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar technologies
Strong interest in optimizing development processes through automation and engineering best practices
Understanding of software build and deployment processes across both Windows and Linux environments
