Lead Commercial Service Tech

LOCATION: Seattle

SALARY: $80.62 - $87.46 Per hour, based on the applicable union classification and wage schedule.

About the Job:

This role supports service technicians, promotes teamwork and growth in the region. This role will start at 95% field work, 5% office, with percentage shifting depending on growth. The Lead Technician works to perform preventative and predictive maintenance, repairs, and retrofits on commercial mechanical equipment. They work in a collaborative manner with customers, office staff and other field personnel to ensure a great level of satisfaction with our work. This individual is expected to meet performance standards set by the Service Manager and comply with all company policies and procedures. The Lead Technician collaborates with the Service Foreman to ensure field operations efforts are coordinated and directed toward department and company goals.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Service Technician performs the following:

  • Perform maintenance, filter changes, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of commercial package gas and electric systems, heat pumps, air conditioners, hydronic systems, boilers, controls, and related components.
  • Troubleshoot and work with electrical components, including electrical repairs and small installation projects.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of commercial mechanical systems, including constant volume and VAV systems, refrigeration equipment, compressors, chillers, boilers, and related equipment.
  • Perform required rigging and equipment handling in accordance with applicable safety procedures.
  • Handle and recover refrigerants in compliance with EPA regulations and standards.
  • Communicate with customers regarding issues identified while servicing heating and air conditioning systems. Provide clear documentation of services performed and recommended repairs.
  • Work closely with Service Coordinators to ensure customer needs are addressed promptly and expectations are met.
  • Promote customer retention and satisfaction by providing responsive, professional, and personalized service.
  • Collaborate effectively with Sales, Management, and Field Operations to support a team-oriented work environment.
  • Participate in identifying and developing new sales opportunities as requested.
  • Participate in a rotating 24-hour emergency on-call schedule, typically consisting of one seven-day period.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Requirements:

The candidate must possess the following skills and abilities:
  • 15+ Years in HVAC service department
  • Willingness and ability to join Local 32 union.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Clean background check.
  • EPA Refringent license.
  • Seattle Grade 2 Boiler Supervision license.
  • WA State 06A Limited Energy license.
  • Ability to provide technical support in person and over the phone.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, technicians, Alliant office staff, and Alliant's customers.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail while managing frequent interruptions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable learning and using new software and technology.
  • Dependable with a strong record of attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to maintain a consistent work schedule, including assigned start times and meal periods.
  • Ability to regularly lift 40 pounds
