Lead Cloud Solution Architect

Summary

The Lead Cloud Solution Architect provides technical and architectural leadership across the enterprise, shaping cloud strategy, defining standards, and guiding complex implementations that enable McKesson's long-term business outcomes. This role partners closely with business and technology leaders to drive secure, scalable, and compliant cloud adoption at scale.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as a strategic cloud advisor to business units and technology leaders, shaping cloud adoption strategies aligned to enterprise priorities.


  • Define and govern enterprise cloud solution patterns, reference architectures, and design standards across Azure and hybrid environments.


  • Shape and evolve cloud security guardrails, governance models, and architectural standards, influencing enterprise-level decisions.


  • Guide business units through cloud onboarding and large-scale migration initiatives as a senior technical advisor.


  • Conduct architecture assessments and optimization reviews for complex and high-impact cloud solutions.


  • Partner with enterprise architecture, cloud platform, operations, and governance teams to ensure integrated solutions.


  • Mentor senior architects and engineers and lead enablement efforts to raise overall cloud architecture maturity.


  • Provide thought leadership on emerging cloud technologies and influence enterprise adoption strategies.


What You Bring

  • Recognized expertise in cloud solution architecture within large, regulated enterprise environments.


  • Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure; experience with AWS or GCP is a plus.


  • Strong experience with cloud-native architectures, microservices, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or ARM templates.


  • Proven ability to influence architectural decisions and drive alignment across multiple teams and stakeholders.


  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to business leaders.


  • Cloud architecture certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are highly desirable.


Minimum Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience. Less years required if has relevant Master's or Doctorate qualifications.


Preferable Skills & Experience

  • Experience defining enterprise cloud standards and reference architectures.


  • Experience leading large-scale cloud migration or modernization programs.


  • Background in healthcare or other highly regulated industries.
