Project Overview:We are looking for a qualified candidate to join the expanding Bechtel Renewables & Clean Power business line to deliver the latest in our long-term portfolio of natural gas fired combined cycle power projects. Our projects include a nominal 640MW single unit that will provide consistent electrical power to the regional grid. Bechtel is currently supporting our customer to define the scope and design basis for the Project which will utilize advanced gas turbine technology to deliver reliable and responsive electric power generation.
Job Summary:In this role, you will oversee the development and preparation of purchase orders. You will act in accordance with Bechtel and project purchasing procedures. You will participate in negotiations, solve problems, and communicate with suppliers to ensure compliance with purchase order requirements and achieve the required service to meet project needs.
Note: This position will start in Reston, later will need to mobilize to the field. #LI-V
Major Responsibilities:- By reviewing the prime contract requirements, develops and prepares project master purchases pro-forma forms, including legal and commercial terms and conditions to be included in purchase documents on project commitments
- Prepares, maintains, and monitors project bidder's lists, ensuring input is received from all procurement functions and other operational groups
- Reviews international project commercial conditions of purchasing to ensure purchasing pro-forma terms, conditions and procedures are compatible with applicable Bechtel Directives, Instructions and Supply Chain Governance
- Forms, issues, and administers purchase orders
- Directs negotiations in the commitment of purchases, following review and approval of the proposed negotiating plan by the designated supervisor
Education and Experience Requirements:Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:- Experience in purchasing, agreement / order drafting (with legal support as required), administration and negotiation of changes, effective correspondence, planning and scheduling.
- Working knowledge purchase order administration, home office and field procedures and documents relating to a multi-discipline construction projects.
- General knowledge of engineering/construction industry contracting, purchasing, and material management practices, applicable government and commercial regulations and practices, and industry policies, procedures and work practices
- Possesses experience and knowledge of project purchasing and PO administration activities.
