Full Job Description
About the role

Coalition is looking for a seasoned actuary with deep reinsurance pricing expertise to help build out our world-class actuarial team. This role carries significant ownership across the full pricing lifecycle - from model development and portfolio analytics to treaty governance and executive communication - and demands an exceptional blend of technical depth, strategic thinking, and leadership.

You will lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of our reinsurance pricing frameworks and actuarial models, setting the standard for analytical rigor across the team. This means independently structuring and pricing complex treaties, driving portfolio profitability reviews with actionable underwriting recommendations, and ensuring our pricing methodology stays ahead of cyber insurance developments and market shifts.

Beyond the technical work, you will be a key voice in shaping how we communicate risk and pricing strategy to senior leadership, underwriting, and external partners - translating complex analyses into clear, confident recommendations.

We're looking for someone who rolls up their sleeves, challenges the status quo, and brings genuine intellectual curiosity to every problem - whether that's exploring new modelling approaches, improving operational efficiency, or finding a smarter way to serve our clients.

Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end pricing of complex reinsurance treaties, including assumption development, cash flow projection, and risk/return optimization
  • Develop, oversee, and enhance actuarial models, setting methodology standards and driving continuous improvement through dedicated project work
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear recommendations for internal and external audiences
  • SME to support the creation and maintenance of appropriate pricing risk governance controls
  • Straddle the worlds of reinsurance, data science, engineering and security experts to shape the most suitable data-driven solutions
  • Act as an ambassador for the actuarial team, fostering a solutions-driven approach and demonstrating a strong commitment in meeting the needs of our stakeholders
Skills and Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in Insurance pricing, with at least 4+ years in Reinsurance
  • ACAS or FCAS certification
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex initiatives
  • Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science or any other related field
  • Strong understanding of actuarial pricing & the various reinsurance treaties structure
  • Excellent communication skills including ability to convey clear information to manager and team members, and ability to vulgarize complex technical concepts to non-technical audience
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced environment, and consistently meet deadlines
  • Ability to take ambiguous problems and solve them in a structured data-driven way
  • Ability to think long-term strategically and operationally, striking the right balance between short-term deliveries and long-term business outcomes
  • Ability to influence partners and build strong relationships, creating win-win situations with them
  • Ability to develop, assess and monitor numerous business metrics and use the acquired knowledge to optimize our pricing proposals
Bonus Points
  • Pricing experience in Cyber (re)Insurance
  • Experience in building and monitoring advanced pricing framework
  • Experience working with external regulators, carriers and brokers
