What your day looks like:

POSITION SUMMARY:

TWG is an established player in the field of animal nutrition and feeds with over 80% share of the protein production in its footprint and continues to build through its differentiated and value add services. The goal for this role is to build a strategic leadership position in the Layer producer segment. This role is a strategic and operational position assisting the Director of Nutrition Services, in establishing a competitive edge to the business and its customers with nutrition advisory and leadership and technical services. This influential role calls for a profound understanding of the poultry nutrition segment and its value in layer production systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Poultry Nutrition Advisory & Leadership - 50%
  • Successfully lead the positioning of Wenger Poultry Nutrition programs as the first-choice solution with layer producers - identifying key deliverables through a thorough understanding business positioning and differentiation in the segment; analyzing gaps between current and future states; developing custom nutrition programs targeting future state; implementing and demonstrating delivery through results in a commercial environment.
  • Be the poultry nutrition knowledge base and techno-commercial interface with producers in critically analyzing economic parameters of protein production, elucidating the influence of nutrition, quality, and management; developing and presenting complex solutions and justifications for return on investment.
  • Collaborate with other functional supporting team members, and develop a Profitability Modeling Tool to plot, predict and track production, conversion, and economic metrics of popular poultry genetics; use the tool as an engagement tool for customer acquisition and retention.
  • Constantly scan local and global public and university resources to keep abreast of latest developments in the field of layer nutrition and egg quality; upskill nutrition and nutritional technologies and implement as needed to enhance performance and margins; develop a deep understanding of key trends and performance indicators, competitive landscape for nutrition services; maintain and update market intelligence on production metrics.
  • Assist Marketing and Central Training functions with preparing manuals, technical publications and assisting with product development and marketing activities for key industry events. Develop writing, editing, and proofreading scientific documentation for marketing materials to support business promotion.
  • Support the in-house Wenger Animal Nutrition Academy (WANA) activities in upskilling the knowledge of team members on poultry nutrition.

Poultry Nutrition Research - 10%
  • Collaborate with Innovation & Research, Laboratory and Formulations teams in developing and testing new programs and concepts for enhanced return on investment through exploratory, applied and field research trials.
  • Collaborate with Formulations and Procurement in delivering enhanced ingredient margins to the organization through least, optimal and best cost formulations, and value advantage to customers developing alternative rations with ingredient substitutions in instances of ingredient outage or shortage, etc.
  • Collaborate with Procurement in identifying and developing strategic ingredients for nutrition; managing ingredient specifications, quality and costs for best-cost ingredient sourcing and pricing; assisting with forecasting ingredient projections for the business and customers.

Poultry Technical Support Services - 40%
  • Establish a set of standards to suit customers' goals, develop mechanisms to gather, analyze and review with producers periodically, engaging through farm visits, training their live production and technical teams on layer nutrition, participating in producers' production review meetings and assisting in resolving nutrition performance issues.
  • Actively collaborate with Relationship Managers of Wenger Feeds Animal Nutrition (WFAN) in developing customer development strategies for other untapped opportunities in the geography.
  • Exploit the value of vast in-house resources and capabilities (Profitability Modeling tools, formulations support, quality control and nutrition laboratory support) and differentiators (ingredient risk management, innovation and research infrastructure, quality and food safety programs, management systems and certified processes) effectively positioning with customers and prospects in establishing the credibility and control on the supply and nutrient channel.
  • Assist in investigating and resolving customer non-conformances and complaints including nutrition programs, rations, feed quality, new technology applications, marketing efforts, etc; collaborate with Relationship Managers, Consultant Nutritionists and Veterinarians, organize custom nutrition, health and management training programs addressing problems faced by customers, as needed.
  • Provide technical support and training to Relationship Managers and be actively involved in the sales process.
  • Actively represent TWG at industry events and professional trade associations and bodies, maintain collaborative, in-depth, high-level contacts with key influencers, participate in local and national media with practical, technical, and scientific articles to elevate the image and reputation as leaders in poultry nutrition.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Ph D in animal nutrition or animal sciences specialized in poultry, layer specific.
  • 3 to 7 years of hands-on experience in developing and delivering large-scale, multi-location nutrition services in an integrated or commercial and integrated feed setting.
  • Proficiency in feed formulation software, live production applications and interfacing with customer service, feed mill and finance applications.
  • Ability to relate technical knowledge to solve complex testing and process problems; translate and communicate analytical data and technical knowledge to technical and non-technical stakeholders; applying statistical and quality management tools.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills with all levels of the organization to address conflicts, resolve upset conditions, influence, and facilitate behavioral change.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software
  • Strong presentation and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to be in office full-time at corporate headquarters in Lancaster, PA.
