Full Job Description
We are seeking a Launch Security Evaluator to establish and execute the foundational security standardization capability for Amazon's launch operations across all Payload Processing and Launch facilities. This role is essential to deliver consistent, mission-aligned security postures at every launch site; eliminating operational variance, ensuring traceability, and maintaining compliance throughout the mission lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will bring expertise in infrastructure security assessments, aerospace operations security, and stakeholder engagement with launch providers. This is a field-facing, technically oriented role responsible for conducting standardized security evaluations of new or unfamiliar facilities, developing mission-specific security requirements, and working directly with launch providers to establish Amazon-controlled expectations rather than relying on provider-defined standards.

With Amazon's expanding launch operations currently spanning multiple launch providers with additional contracts and locations under evaluation; this role provides the scalability needed to ensure security grows in pace with the program's increasing footprint and launch cadence.

Must be able to pass and maintain a Federal Kennedy Space Center badge

Key job responsibilities
• Establish the foundational security standardization capability for Amazon's launch operations across all Payload Processing and Launch facilities
• Deliver consistent security policies and procedures across all launch sites, ensuring uniform application of Amazon's security bar regardless of provider or location
• Eliminate operational variance when standing up new sites by implementing repeatable evaluation frameworks and checklists
• Identify security requirements and develop mitigations specific to each launch mission, documenting findings and controls throughout the mission lifecycle to ensure traceability and accountability
• Work directly with launch providers to ensure security requirements and needs are clearly identified, communicated, and met-establishing Amazon-controlled expectations rather than relying on provider-defined standards
• Maintain an audit-ready compliance posture that satisfies both internal and external regulatory requirements
• Drive continuous improvement through post-campaign assessments, lessons learned, and corrective action tracking
• Develop and maintain security evaluation playbooks, site assessment templates, and mission security plans
• Partner with Launch Operations, Program Management, and Corporate Security to align security requirements with mission timelines and operational constraints
• Coordinate with export control and industrial security teams to ensure infrastructure security controls support ITAR/EAR compliance at launch and payload processing facilities
• Report security posture, assessment findings, and compliance status to leadership; escalate risks and recommend mitigations

A day in the life

You'll evaluate security postures across Leo's launch and payload processing facilities, reviewing site assessments, validating controls, and coordinating with launch providers to ensure Amazon's security requirements are met. You may conduct a standardized evaluation of a new launch facility, develop mission-specific security requirements for an upcoming campaign, or partner with Launch Operations to align controls with mission timelines. You'll refine security playbooks and assessment templates, coordinate with export control teams on ITAR/EAR compliance, and drive post-campaign corrective actions, balancing field evaluations with scalable security standardization every day.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in identifying security issues and risks, and developing mitigation plans

- Travel up to 25% of the time

- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization

- Bachelor's degree or above in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, International Security, Business Management or related fields

- 5+ years of experience in infrastructure security, security assessments, or security operations within aerospace, defense, or high-consequence environments

- Experience developing security policies, standards, procedures, or evaluation frameworks

- Experience working in or supporting launch operations, payload processing, or similar aerospace environments

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Associate's degree, or CISSP, CISA, CISM or other security certification

- Knowledge of one or more of the following domains: access-control system and methodology, network security, application- and system-development security, security architecture and models, cryptography, and operations security

- Experience in similar environments, or experience building launch readiness frameworks, standard work, playbooks, and scalable deployment mechanisms across multiple concurrent sites

- Experience completing complex tasks quickly with little to no guidance and react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround, or experience managing teams

- Experience writing technical documents, project plans and progress reports to leadership and to stakeholders

- Experience overseeing security protocols in aerospace or launch environments with complex regulatory and operational risk landscapes

- Experience with export control compliance (ITAR/EAR) in a manufacturing, lab, or launch environment

- Experience working directly with launch service providers (e.g., ULA, SpaceX, Arianespace, Blue Origin, or similar)

- Experience conducting security assessments at government ranges or federally controlled launch facilities
