Full Job Description
The Site Manager is a continuous on-site leader responsible for daily safety, performance, and operational rhythm of an AV data collection or testing site. They provide hands on leadership for coordinators and driving staff, ensuring compliance with safety and training standards, maintaining vehicle and asset readiness, and serving as the front line of escalations for any on site issues. The Site Manager will report to the Regional Manager and partners closely with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver against driver and vehicle KPIs.
Key Responsibilities:
On Site Operational Leadership
Maintain a consistent physical presence on-site during operational hours to oversee daily activities and provide visible leadership to coordinators and driving staff.
Own daily site operations and operational coverage, ensuring staffing levels are adequate, teams are briefed, and site activities are running to plan.
Lead daily operational syncs with shift coordinators to review vehicle status, safety near misses, and resource requirements for upcoming operations.
Safety, Compliance, and Audits
Ensure driver safety and policy compliance by training and reinforcing ODD, takeover requirements, and local operating procedures.
Conduct regular audits of driver behavior and compliance (Netradyne reviews, checklists, data upload timeliness) and close out required coaching or retraining actions.
Incident Response and Escalation
Serve as the local owner for incident response. Coordinate escalation, documentation, and follow up actions for collisions, infractions, UPIs, and other operational disruptions.
Act as the first line of emergency escalation and operational command for local incidents, vehicle issues, and resource shortfalls.
Inventory, Vehicles, Asset Control
Ensure vehicle availability and uptime targets are met through proactive coordination with technical and maintenance partners.
Maintain accurate records and trackers for inventory, vehicle status, and local assets in alignment with standard operating procedures.
Workforce Stability
Monitor local attendance, staffing levels, and workload to maintain stable operations; initiate recruiting requests when needed to close gaps.
Step in and execute coordinator duties during unplanned staffing shortages or peak demand to sustain operations.
Own local training sustainment, including coordinating trainer coverage, maintaining training compliance, and supporting remedial coaching for site staff.
Human Resources and Driver Relations
Serve as the primary on-site owner for human resources issues involving drivers, including performance concerns, conduct issues, and policy violations.
Investigate incidents and gather input from coordinators and relevant stakeholders to ensure fair and consistent treatment.
Make the final recommendation and decision on driver disciplinary actions (including coaching plans, written warnings, and escalations up to removal from the program), in alignment with HR policies.
Partner with HR as needed to ensure documentation, risk management, and compliance requirements are met.
Reporting Metrics
Responsible for following driver and vehicle metrics:
Vehicle metrics: vehicle availability and uptime, preventive maintenance scheduling, and retrofit timing.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
Experience leading operations in a field, logistics, fleet, manufacturing, or automotive environment.
Demonstrated leadership experience (leading front-line teams, supervisors, or coordinators in a shift-based operation).
Strong focus on safety, compliance, and process discipline, with a track record of enforcing standards and closing audit findings.
Proven ability to manage day-to-day operations under time pressure, including incident response and real-time decision making.
Comfort working hands-on in the field, including stepping into operational roles when needed to maintain continuity.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to synthesize data and operational details into clear updates for leadership.
Proficiency with basic tools for tracking metrics and incident documentation (e.g., spreadsheets, ticketing or incident systems, and dashboard tools).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in autonomous vehicles, transportation, automotive testing, warehousing, or related technical operations.
Prior ownership of KPIs across both people and assets (e.g., utilization, uptime, safety, and quality).
Experience partnering with or reporting to regional or multi-site leadership structures.
Familiarity with safety camera/coaching tools (e.g., Netradyne) or similar driver behavior monitoring systems.
Experience supporting site stand-up, new market launches, or large-scale operational transitions.
