Responsibilities:
The Level II Registered Nurse, under the direction of the Nurse Manager, is accountable for provision of competent direct patient care based on established standards. The Level II Registered Nurse contributes to unit activities and supports enhancement of the care delivery system at the unit level. The Level II Registered Nurse supports peers in the delivery of patient care services and assumes an expanded role which may include charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member responsibilities.

The lactation team supports parents and infants facing routine challenges through complex feeding challenges. Support breastfeeding for all healthy newborns in the hospital as well as the high-risk or medically complex neonates, including those with prematurity, low birth weight, failure to thrive, and congenital conditions. Provide lactation support to parents with low milk supply, infections, complex medication needs, or surgical recovery. Facilitate and monitor individualized infant feeding plans. Educate nursing staff and learners to promote evidence-based breastfeeding practices. Ensure timely documentation, follow-up planning, and assist with connecting to community resources. If do not already have the lactation certification will complete the CLC training while onboarding. Will be required to complete IBCLC training within 2 years of hire. Strong clinical background in lactation care, especially with medically complex dyads. Passion for supporting and advocating for breastfeeding as a critical component of infant and maternal health RN license with 2 years of RN experience in the hospital setting required.
