Conti Testing Laboratories is a leading independent analytical testing laboratory specializing in high-quality chemical and material analysis. With a reputation for precision, innovation, and client-centric service, we support industries including mining, metals, manufacturing, constructions, and research & development. Conti Testing is accredited to the ISO/IEC 17025: 2017 standard via PJLA for testing and PA DEP accredited laboratory.

Position Overview

The Laboratory Director is an in-person senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all laboratory operations, ensuring high-quality analytical testing, and driving efficiency and innovation in our Bethel Park, PA laboratory. This individual will lead a team of scientists, collaborate with clients to address technical challenges, and contribute to the company’s strategic growth.

Key Characteristics

Technical Expertise in Chemistry

  • Deep understanding of chemical analysis and quality control processes.
  • Ability to train and mentor laboratory technicians and scientists.
  • Provide technical guidance to support client quality assurance, R&D, and troubleshooting efforts.

Leadership in Laboratory Operations

  • Experience managing high-performing laboratory teams.
  • Knowledge of best-in-class operating procedures and process optimization.
  • Drive efficiency improvements while maintaining quality and compliance.

Business and Client Acumen

  • Collaborate with clients to solve complex technical challenges.
  • Interpret and communicate analytical reports clearly and effectively.

  • National analytical laboratories (e.g., Eurofins, SGS, Pace).
  • Industrial, mining, or manufacturing quality assurance & R&D laboratories.
  • University research laboratories.
  • Proven experience managing laboratory operations, teams, and budgets.
  • Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in analytical chemistry.
  • Strong background in chemical analysis and quality control methodologies.

  • Oversee all laboratory testing, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Member of leadership team. Key thought partner to President, Founders, and General Manager.
  • Lead and manage a team of scientists and technicians.
  • Coordinate workflows between field, sample preparation, and laboratory teams.
  • Play a critical role in delivering client reports, analysis, and interpretations.
  • Support business development by providing innovative solutions, technical consulting, and quotes.
  • Oversee research and development initiatives. Key stakeholder on growth strategy initiatives.
  • Make key recommendations for capital investments in equipment and repairs.
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance and regulatory standards.
