This Opportunity
WSP is initiating a search for an Account Manager to support one of our most strategic freight rail clients. Locations for this role includes but not limited to Kansas City, St. Louis, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, or Omaha office. This leadership role will be responsible for managing the successful delivery of comprehensive environmental services within the transportation and rail infrastructure space, while serving as a trusted advisor and key point of contact for the client.
The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary programs, oversee account performance, and strengthen WSP's partnership with this important client through exceptional project execution, proactive communication, and a strong commitment to safety, quality, and commercial success. This position offers the opportunity to support critical rail infrastructure initiatives for one of North America's largest transportation networks. Your Impact
Serve as the primary account manager and client-facing lead for environmental services.
Identify opportunities to expand service offerings and support growth of the account and WSP's strategic freight rail program within the Earth & Environment sector.
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client stakeholders, project sponsors, and operational leaders.
Develop account growth strategies and manage forecasting and financial performance while ensuring alignment with client expectations.
Lead multidisciplinary teams consisting of environmental and engineering professionals.
Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to facilitate efficient project delivery and issue resolution.
Ensure compliance with WSP and client standards, project requirements, regulatory requirements, and WSP quality processes.
Partner with Project Controls teams to monitor schedules, forecasts, earned value metrics, resource utilization, and project safety metrics.
Prepare and deliver executive-level account updates, performance reviews, and strategic client presentations.
Mentor project managers, coordinators, and technical staff while promoting a strong culture of safety, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Support proposal development, strategic account planning, and business development activities associated with this key rail account and other rail clients.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering or a related discipline.
10+ years of progressive experience managing environmental programs for transportation, freight rail, or infrastructure clients.
Strong commitment to safety.
Working knowledge of key environmental service offerings, such as emergency incident and spill response; environmental due diligence in support of real property transactions and mergers and acquisitions; survey and abatement of asbestos, lead and PCBs; management and evaluation of environmental liabilities; natural, cultural and historic resource survey, management and permitting, including NEPA; environmental remediation; geohazard mitigation; environmental, safety and health compliance; and, industrial wastewater treatment system design.
Proven experience managing strategic accounts, forecasting, business risks, and client relationships. Proven ability to develop and lead programs and strong internal teams across multiple disciplines and geographic locations.
Proven ability to identify and lead pursuit of strategic opportunities within the environmental consulting freight rail space.
Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to navigate complex operational environments and manage competing priorities.
Working knowledge of project delivery methodologies, project controls, and project governance practices.
Ability to travel is required to support program, project and client needs.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting Class I railroad clients with environmental services, including UP, BNSF, Canadian National, Canadian Pacific Kansas City, or other major rail operators.
Demonstrated success developing and growing strategic client relationships within the transportation and rail industry.
Rail safety training.
