Location Note: This a hybrid role for our Wakefield, MA office (In-office one day every other week, plus additional in-person trainings and workshops as needed)
The Purpose of Your Role:The Junior Software Engineer is part of the development team, which has the responsibility for building, maintaining, enhancing and integrating home built custom applications using different technology stacks and connected systems. A junior engineer at Sentinel learns and conducts requirement analysis, documents technical specifications, test plans, writes, reviews, debugs code and performs releases. This role handles increasingly complex issues and problems over time or collaborates more complicated issues with higher-level staff.

What you'll be responsible for:- Work with Business Analysts and peers to build software you are proud of.
- Help converting legacy applications into web based applications.
- Build secure and well-defined API's.
- Build automation with Airflow.
- Utilize Azure DevOps, Azure Pipelines, and Azure Repos and upgrade DevOps processes within Sentinel.

What you need to have:Preferred qualifications:• 1-3 years of experience building or supporting software applications through professional work, internships, coursework, or personal projects.
• Experience developing with Python and familiarity with TypeScript and React.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, automated testing, version control, and CI/CD practices.
• Exposure to Azure DevOps, Azure Pipelines, Azure Repos, Terraform, or Airflow.
• Understanding of secure, maintainable, testable software design and basic application security principles.
• Experience working in an Agile or collaborative, cross-functional development environment.
• Ability to troubleshoot existing systems, understand legacy code, and contribute to incremental modernization.
• Interest in using AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve software quality and developer productivity.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a willingness to ask questions, receive feedback, and continue learning.
Salary Range: $88,000-$93,000
At Sentinel, compensation is calibrated to your geographic location to reflect local market conditions; the posted salary range may vary based on where you live.
