Junior Estimator - Construction to join our growing team! This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is eager to learn, develop technical estimating skills, and contribute to meaningful industrial and commercial construction projects.
In this role, you will support the estimating team by assisting with quantity takeoffs, reviewing plans and specifications, and helping to develop accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment. You'll gain exposure to industrial scopes such as insulation, scaffolding, and related services while building a strong foundation in estimating practices and industry standards.
ABOUT THE JOB:We're looking for a
Junior Estimator who will support the preparation of accurate, competitive cost estimates for industrial insulation projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontract services. Reviews drawings, specifications, and bid documents to perform quantity takeoffs for systems such as piping, vessels, and mechanical components, applying unit pricing based on current market data and production rates. Maintains estimating tools, including labor units and cost databases, in alignment with industry standards (e.g., MICA, ASTM). Collaborates with estimators, project managers, and operations teams to evaluate project risks, constructability, and value engineering opportunities, while ensuring estimates account for site conditions, logistics, and safety requirements. Maintains clear and organized estimate documentation and supports continuous improvement through post-bid reviews and project feedback.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:- Act as an Insulation subject matter expert
- Estimate Insulation Projects of all sizes
- Collaborate w/ PM's and BM's to coordinate scheduling of manpower for projects
- Generate new job leads through networking with new construction general contractors
- Analyze and evaluate project plans, specifications, scope, difficulty, and any other requirements necessary to prepare a job cost estimate and assemble bid packages
- Prepare conceptual estimates and/or budgets
- Perform accurate quantity take-offs and unit pricing using established company production rates
- When quantity survey is complete; establish profit & overhead for project when requested
- Use the Request for Information (RFI) process when information is lacking (document appropriately)
- Identify and report any observed inaccuracies or omissions in plans and specifications
- Maintain in the job file, all correspondence records and notes for the project being bid (log all bid documents)
- Review and analyze quotes to assure they meet the standards and specifications for the project
- Utilize FDT Estimating templates with proficiency to (a) extract production rates, (b) input quantity and costs according to phases of work required
- Secure vendor pricing and select vendors and subcontractors by their cost effectiveness for each project
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to completely cover scope in the most cost-effective way
- Immediately respond to any vendor or subcontractor questions; resolve issues immediately and completely
- Get written documentation on vendor and subcontractor quotes
- Participate in weekly forecast/planning meetings
- Execute project handovers to PM's
- Attend pre-job meetings as required
- Attend estimating meetings
- Attend project job walks
- Be available on all bid days to assist in the collection and review of incoming quotes
- Provide value engineering
- Talent evaluation
- Coordinate scheduling of projects with PM's, FM, and Branch Manager

ABOUT YOU:In addition to your passion and purpose, to be successful in this
Junior Estimator role, you will possess the following:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience preferred)
- 5 years of experience in construction estimating, industrial services, or a related field
- Knowledge & experience within the insulation field of work
- Basic understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and takeoff processes
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Planswift, or similar)
- Knowledge or interest in industrial insulation systems (piping, mechanical systems, tanks, etc.) is a plus
- Ability to interpret technical documents and apply unit pricing and production rates
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with estimating, operations, and project teams
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and grow within the construction industry
- Understanding of safety standards and jobsite conditions in industrial environments is a plus
