CDM Smith is looking for an entry-level Environmental, Water Resources, or Civil Engineer to join our Water Services Group!

This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career engineer to apply their skills to innovative and sustainable water and wastewater projects while learning from experienced engineers and growing within a collaborative team.

In this role, you'll contribute to the design and implementation of water and wastewater treatment facilities, sewer systems, pipelines, and other critical infrastructure. Working under the guidance of experienced engineers, you'll gain hands-on experience across multiple stages of the project lifecycle.

What You'll Do
  • Support the design and development of water and wastewater treatment facilities, collection systems, pipelines, and related infrastructure.
  • Perform site assessments and field investigations to support project design and development.
  • Assist with water quality analyses, engineering calculations, and hydraulic and hydrologic modeling.
  • Adjust design parameters and develop solutions based on project requirements, site conditions, and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, specifications, and other project documentation.
  • Develop drawings, maps, presentations, and other project materials using tools such as ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, CADD, Excel, and other engineering software.
  • Collaborate with project teams and contribute to presentations for clients, industry conferences, and other stakeholders.
  • Support construction management activities and participate in fieldwork, providing exposure to projects from initial planning and design through construction.

Skills & Abilities

Intermediate Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices. Knowledge of engineer principles of design. Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.). Good written and verbal communications skills.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline. 1 year of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Driving Requirements

An appropriate and valid driver's license is required.
Additional Pay Range Information

CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate's salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.
Additional Compensation

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
