The Journeyman, Substations will be responsible for installing and maintaining overhead, underground, transmission, and distribution systems.
What You'll Do Here:- Perform line maintenance in a safe efficient manner utilizing de-energized, live line hot stick or live line barehand techniques on voltages up to and including 500KV
- Safe operation of heavy and tracked equipment including Radial Arm Diggers, Line Trucks, Cranes, and all terrain equipment (Foremost) as required
- Operate and maintain such hand tools as may be required for the job including blocks, grips, jacks, hot line tools and cover up, etc.
- Read and interpret blueprints or process specifications
- Instruct and train junior personnel in duties, safe work practices, care and use of tools and equipment
- Maintain personal and group safety at all times, and exercise appropriate caution when working with tension for rigging, on or close to energized equipment
- Respond to unscheduled outages as the result of weather, component failures, vehicular accidents, etc.
- Be a positive team member through open communication and active participation in crew tasks
- Ensure the environment is in compliance with Aecon Health & Safety and Environmental Manual
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required
- Availability to travel and work on projects across Canada
- Able to work a 21 and 7 shift out of town.
What You Bring to the Team:- Journeyman Power Lineperson Apprenticeship and Trade Certificate
- Minimum 2 years utility experience constructing, installing and maintaining overhead, underground, transmission, and distribution systems.
- Thorough knowledge of Provincial Electrical Utilities Regulations and provincial specific Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Codes
- Ability to climb, towers and poles, work at heights, and work in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time
- Demonstrated ability to lead and effectively work on teams with a desire to provide excellent customer service
- Ability to interpret drawings, develop / interpret work, instructions, and plan projects for self and others
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong interpersonal, team participation and communication skills
- Valid Driver's License
The expected hourly wage for this position is $80 - 85/hr per the current Collective Agreement. Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
