Job Summary
The Senior Java Developer will be responsible for modernizing critical enterprise services by transforming legacy applications into modern, cloud-native microservices. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on designing and building scalable software solutions, developing RESTful APIs and event-driven services, supporting production applications, and collaborating closely with architecture, platform, product, QA, and SRE teams. The role will contribute to technical design discussions, recommend maintainable solutions, mentor junior developers, and support the development of technical and leadership capabilities for future technical leadership opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, test, and deploy Java-based microservices in a cloud-native environment.
• Participate in large-scale modernization efforts, migrating legacy services to modern distributed architectures.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven services.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, QA, and SRE teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Contribute to technical design discussions and recommend scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Write clean, secure, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.
• Support production applications through monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience building and supporting microservices-based applications.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, design patterns, and object-oriented programming principles.
• Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably Azure.
• Experience with messaging and event-driven architectures using technologies such as Kafka or Azure Event Hubs.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, Cosmos DB, or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes/AKS, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience participating in modernization or migration initiatives.
• Experience converting monolithic or legacy applications into microservices.
• Familiarity with observability tools, monitoring, logging, and distributed tracing.
• Experience working within Agile development teams.
• Prior experience mentoring developers or leading technical initiatives.
