This role will work closely with the Salesforce Team Lead and Lead Developer to deliver technical solutions, maintain and enhance existing functionality, and support the continued evolution of the school's Salesforce platform.
The successful candidate will build upon established Salesforce architecture, data models, integrations, and development patterns rather than develop solutions in isolation. Working under the direction of the Team Lead and Lead Developer, this individual will collaborate with technical colleagues and business stakeholders to translate requirements into reliable, maintainable solutions that align with existing standards and long-term platform goals.
Documentation, data analysis, and collaboration are essential to success in this role. The position requires someone who can understand complex business processes and data relationships, evaluate existing functionality, identify opportunities for improvement, and clearly document technical designs, system behavior, data flows, and implementation decisions. The individual should be comfortable working across configuration, Apex development, integrations, and reporting to address business needs while preserving the integrity and sustainability of the existing Salesforce environment.

Evaluate current functionality and reuse established patterns wherever appropriate to maintain consistency and reduce unnecessary complexity.
- Technical Implementation: Apply sound development and configuration practices to deliver solutions appropriate to the requirements. Use Apex, LWC, SOQL/SOSL, Salesforce Flow, and other platform capabilities as appropriate, with an emphasis on maintainability, performance, security, and scalability.
- Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement: Investigate defects, analyze system behavior, identify root causes, and recommend solutions. Support ongoing maintenance, technical debt reduction, and platform improvements in collaboration with the Lead Developer and Team Lead.
- Integrations & Data Processes: Support the development, maintenance, and troubleshooting of integrations and data pipelines between Salesforce and other university systems, including PeopleSoft, marketing platforms, and other enterprise applications.
Technical Documentation & Collaboration- Technical Documentation: Create and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation for Apex classes, LWCs, Flows, integrations, data models, system architecture, data transformations, and business processes. Documentation should enable other team members to understand, maintain, troubleshoot, and extend implemented solutions.
- Knowledge Sharing: Actively share technical knowledge, implementation decisions, and troubleshooting findings with the Salesforce team. Ensure that changes are documented and communicated so the broader team can effectively support the platform.
- Collaborative Development: Partner closely with the Lead Developer and Team Lead to review requirements, discuss technical approaches, participate in code reviews, and resolve implementation challenges. Incorporate feedback and follow established development, testing, and release practices.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work with Graduate Programs, Executive Education, and other business stakeholders to understand requirements, investigate issues, and validate solutions. Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Technical Recommendations: Evaluate proposed solutions and communicate their implications for data integrity, maintainability, security, performance, and future development. Recommend alternatives when appropriate and work collaboratively to determine the best path forward.
Data Analysis, Reporting & Platform Optimization- Data Analysis: Analyze Salesforce data, relationships, and business processes to identify discrepancies, investigate issues, validate assumptions, and support informed technical decisions. Demonstrate the ability to work with complex datasets and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Data Quality & Integrity: Investigate data inconsistencies, support validation and reconciliation processes, and help maintain reliable data across Salesforce and connected systems.
- Reporting & Analytics: Develop, maintain, and optimize Salesforce reports and dashboards. Support data pipelines and integrations with Tableau to provide accurate, actionable insights into application funnels, enrollment trends, program outcomes, and corporate partnerships.
- Salesforce Org Migration & Enhancement: Contribute to the migration to a new Salesforce org by supporting data transitions, application enhancements, testing, and documentation. Ensure the new environment builds upon established architecture and aligns with the school's broader Salesforce strategy.
- Process Improvement: Analyze existing workflows and system functionality to identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, data quality, reporting, and the experience of Salesforce users.
Governance, Security & Quality Assurance- Architecture & Standards: Follow the technical direction, architectural decisions, coding standards, security requirements, and data governance practices established by the Salesforce Team Lead and Lead Developer.
- Testing & Release Management: Develop and execute appropriate testing strategies, document results, support deployment activities, and verify that changes function as intended without disrupting existing processes.
- Security & Data Protection: Follow established access controls, sharing models, secure coding practices, and university data management requirements when developing and maintaining Salesforce functionality.
- Maintainability & Sustainability: Consider the long-term implications of technical decisions and prioritize solutions that are understandable, supportable, and consistent with the existing environment.
