Job Summary
The IT Software Developer will support and modernize critical commercial applications, with a primary focus on backend development, application development, cloud migration, system enhancements, and ongoing support of business-critical platforms. The role requires strong expertise in Python, FastAPI, SQL, NoSQL databases, Node.js, and JavaScript, with responsibility for migrating existing on-premise applications to AWS, developing scalable APIs, troubleshooting technical issues, and collaborating with engineers, application owners, and business stakeholders to deliver technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, maintain, and enhance backend applications using Python and FastAPI.
• Design, build, and support RESTful APIs and integration services.
• Assist with migration of existing on-premise applications to AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Work with PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases to design, optimize, and maintain application data structures.
• Collaborate with engineers, application owners, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable fixes.
• Participate in application modernization efforts, including performance improvements, scalability enhancements, and feature development.
• Review, test, and deploy code following development best practices.
• Contribute to system architecture discussions and technical decision-making.
• Support bug fixes, application maintenance, and ongoing platform improvements.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and code reviews.
• Maintain technical documentation and ensure adherence to security and development standards.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience developing and supporting enterprise applications in a collaborative development environment.
• Proven experience working on application modernization or cloud migration projects.
• Strong proficiency in Python development.
• Hands-on experience building APIs using FastAPI or similar frameworks.
• Strong SQL skills with experience working in PostgreSQL environments.
• Experience with NoSQL databases.
• Proficiency in Node.js and JavaScript.
• Experience designing, developing, and consuming REST APIs.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with AWS.
• Experience in the energy industry.
