Job Description:At Regions, the Senior Audit Director develops, directs, and monitors the internal audit activities for various areas of the bank in accordance with the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (SPPIA). This level is a manager of people providing leadership, coaching, development, and annual performance review to other Audit positions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Contributes to the development of a risk-based approach for the annual audit plan
- Reviews engagement level risk assessment; adapts the risk profile for changes or new information
- Ensures the scope of work meets the audit engagement objectives
- Reviews audit work performed to ensure audit objectives are met
- Identifies process improvements for the business based on understanding and analysis of process flows/operations
- Ensures that proposals for improvements to internal controls are balanced with organizational objectives and capabilities
- Reviews and approve auditor assessment that management actions have effectively resolved audit issues
- Presents audit results to stakeholders in a professional and organized manner
- Serves as a key resource for industry intelligence to the audit team
- Trusted advisor to senior management to solve issues identified in the internal audit engagement
- Effectively develop IA staff and ensure recognition and reward for those who exceed expectations
This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
This position is incentive eligible.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Ten (10) years experience in internal audit, external audit, banking, or risk management/compliance and three (3) years of experience in a managerial role
Certifications/Licensures
Professional certifications in Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA), Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Risk Professional (CRP), Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Certified Fiduciary and Investment Risk Specialist (CFIRS), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Certified Bank Auditor (CBA)
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely
- Consistently draft written communications requiring little or no editing
- Effectively edit written communications of others
- Serve as an expert in building consensus
- Proficient at leveraging relationships/network
- Proficient at performance and talent management, including development of managers and senior managers
This Senior Director, Technology Audit role is a high-impact leadership position responsible for overseeing a broad technology audit portfolio within a regulated banking environment. The individual will lead a team of managers and auditors, provide assurance across areas such as cybersecurity, cloud, IT governance, and third-party risk, and partner closely with senior executives and regulators to help shape the bank's technology risk strategy
