Overview

Selective Insurance Company of America is seeking motivated, self-directed individuals to join our Information Technology Early Career Development Program.

Selective's IT Early Career Development Program is a full-time, three-year rotational program designed to develop adaptable technology professionals. Through three one-year rotations, participants gain hands-on experience across multiple areas of IT while building technical, business, and leadership capabilities. Along the way, participants are supported by a network of mentors, technology leaders, managers, and fellow early-career professionals, and contribute to meaningful work that delivers business value.

We are seeking curious, collaborative, and motivated individuals who are committed to continuous learning and professional growth. Successful candidates demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, take ownership of their development, and work effectively across teams. Whether your interests lie in software engineering, data and analytics, cloud, cybersecurity, architecture, or emerging technologies, the program provides opportunities to explore different career paths while developing the skills needed to succeed in today's evolving technology landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver business value by developing various technical solutions; depending on current role this could include programming, infrastructure, security or architecture solutions.
  • Leverage modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, automation, cloud platforms, data solutions, and software engineering practices to solve business challenges.
  • Have a Continuous Improvement mindset; take ownership, lead and drive the adoption of new or improved technologies, patterns and processes
  • Communicate with others across the organization, bridging gaps and building relationships to solve complex problems
  • Perform analysis by independently seeking out required information, raising concerns, considering others perspectives and articulating recommendations to a broad audience
  • Research and evaluate alternative solutions and recommend the most efficient and scalable, secure, maintainable, and business-aligned solutions for the system's design.
  • Work closely with your team and stakeholders to identify complex requirements and processes for diverse development platforms, software, hardware, technologies, tools, etc.

Education and Experience

  • Exposure to one or more programming languages, data platforms, cloud technologies, automation tools, or other technology-related disciplines is preferred.
