Introduction to the role
The IT DevOps Application Engineer plays a key role in supporting ASML's Engineering Workspace environment, including Windows-based virtual desktops, Linux High Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure, simulation software, and cloud-based CI/CD pipelines. As part of a global DevOps team, you will support engineering users across the United States and Europe while contributing to the deployment, testing, automation, and continuous improvement of engineering applications and services. This role combines operational support with development-focused activities to enhance the performance, reliability, and scalability of the Engineering Workspace platform.
Role and responsibilities- Support and maintain the Engineering Workspace environment, including Windows Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), Citrix-based solutions, Linux HPC platforms, storage systems, and simulation applications.
- Provide first-line support and troubleshooting for a user community of engineering professionals, ensuring timely resolution of technical issues.
- Collaborate with second-line IT support teams, software vendors, and infrastructure teams to diagnose and resolve complex technical problems.
- Deploy, configure, validate, and maintain engineering and simulation applications in Windows and Citrix environments.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated functional application testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines to improve software quality and deployment efficiency.
- Drive automation initiatives that increase system reliability, reduce manual effort, and improve end-user productivity.
- Participate in Agile/DevOps practices, contributing to system enhancements, release activities, and continuous service improvement initiatives.
- Monitor platform performance and proactively identify opportunities to improve availability, scalability, and user experience.
- Support migration and modernization initiatives involving desktop, virtual desktop, and cloud-based technologies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Must possess 5 years of experience supporting enterprise Windows desktop, virtual desktop, or Citrix environments.
- Experience developing, implementing, or supporting automated application testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience providing technical support to engineering or technical user communities.
Preferred experience in three or more of the following areas:
- PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Windows system administration.
- Linux system administration.
- CI/CD pipeline design, configuration, and implementation.
- Automated functional application testing.
- Simulation and engineering applications such as Ansys, Star-CCM+, HyperWorks, or MATLAB.
- Agile, Scrum, or SAFe development methodologies.
- High Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
- Cloud-based engineering platforms and DevOps tools.
Additional preferred qualifications:
- Experience supporting Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) or Finite Element Analysis (FEA) applications.
- Experience with desktop modernization, virtualization, VDI, or cloud migration projects.
- Familiarity with engineering software deployment, packaging, and lifecycle management.

Other Information- This position is located on-site in San Diego, CA . It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation.
- A flexible workplace arrangement may be available to employees working in roles conducive to remote work (up to two days a week).
- Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move around the campus.

The current base annual salary range for this role is currently:
$102,375-153,563
Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
