Full Job Description
Position Summary

The Associate will be responsible for analyzing real estate acquisition and development investment opportunities. The Associate is also responsible for overseeing Financial Analysts and providing senior team members with support on new deals and existing assets. The Associate will also be responsible for assisting with fund management including valuation, reporting and portfolio management.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
  • Directs and manages a team of Financial Analysts on a daily basis. Maintains a thorough understanding of the job responsibilities and provides direction as needed.
  • Works closely with Financial Analysts and plays an active role in the Project Underwriting and Capitalization duties including:
    • Underwriting:
      • Performs Budget, Economic, and Proforma return underwriting
      • Assists with scenario and sensitivity analysis of development projects
    • Capitalization:
      • Assists in creating financing packages in order to procure financing on Ownership portfolio
      • Reviews project team feasibility reports and prepare capital markets section
      • Assists with required due diligence steps necessary to close financing
  • Prepares and coordinates RFP responses and marketing presentations
  • Prepares Investment Committee Reporting, including the following:
    • Projects under development
    • Monthly leasing and budget reports
    • Prepares presentation that will go to management alerting them to any budget issues
    • Proposed deals - Investment Package
  • Researches specific real estate markets to assess market demand, potential for demand and rate growth, competitiveness of comparable properties, and risk potential.
  • Assists with complex financial models that identify the potential financial performance of an asset as well as the Fund's portfolio of assets.
  • Maintains asset valuations for the legacy and Fund assets.
  • Reviews and assists with loan agreements and ancillary documents related to the closing of a transaction.
  • Assists with portfolio management including tracking deal flow of the Fund.
  • Participates in fundraising activities including preparation of marketing materials and due diligence responses.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Investment, Asset Management and Operations team.


Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities

The Associate will supervise a team of Financial Analysts and will be responsible for carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive work experience in finance, capital markets or real estate.
  • Must be highly detailed and possess excellent financial, mathematical, and statistical skills.
  • Ability to learn in a fast paced environment, managing multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong personal motivation and commitment to excellence.
  • Ability to manage and mentor junior professionals.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.


Working Conditions

There will be some variation in work hours due to position specific projects and deadlines. Occasional travel may be required.
