Job Summary ***This posting may be used to fill multiple positions***
The Investigation Specialist will conduct and lead assigned investigations of alleged employee misconduct and performance management. The investigations assigned will address compliance with DHS policy and procedures, federal and/or state statutes, regulations and rules.
Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
- Review intake/case history to evaluate basis of alleged scope
- Formulates, monitors, and revises operational plans which identify potential investigative techniques and approaches
- Conduct investigation; interview subjects and witnesses
- Provide assistance and consultation to other investigators conducting investigations on approach, questions, securing and obtaining evidence
- Assist with HR Projects
- Attend division, committee and other meetings as needed
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Two (2) years' experience conducting workplace, administrative, or employment-related investigations.
Experience must include:
- Experience with interviewing, fact gathering, or other evidence gathering, which may include applying this evidence to laws, regulations, policy, or procedures.
- Written and verbal communication experience producing reports, memos, findings of fact, or other written work product; to preserve evidence and statements collected during investigations; and to respond to inquiries from and otherwise communicate with stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive personnel matters.
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with a wide range of backgrounds, who may not share your same culture, ethnicity, or other common experiences.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and work both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications - Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
- Experience reviewing and applying applicable labor and employment laws, Personnel Policies, Collective Bargaining Agreements, and other applicable laws, codes and policies.
