Responsibilities

  • Assist with pre and post procedure patient assessment and education.
  • Support physician during endovascular and Cardiac/Cardiology procedures.
  • Operate fluoroscope, laser, and other interventional equipment while practicing radiation safety.
  • Prepare radiopaque materials and contrast for administration by physician.
  • Accurately complete documentation, including procedures and supplies used.
  • Assist in patient positioning and transfers during procedures.
  • Ensure daily checks on medical equipment and availability of supplies.

Full Job Description
Short Description

Assists interventionalists in all procedures within the scope of interventional radiology and vascular surgery, but not limited to oncology, vascular and trauma. Skill set must be maintained to handle supplies/instrumentation associated with interventional procedures. Adheres to all infection prevention policies, utilizing the appropriate PPE needed. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Duties to include but not limited to, assisting with pre and post procedure patient assessment, patient teaching, assisting with patient care within scope of practice, inventory management (inventory, receive, organize, restock of products)
  • Assist physician in endovascular and Cardiac/Cardiology procedures to include but not limited to setting up sterile field, positioning and prepping, circulating and scrubbing to assist with handling of instruments, operating and monitoring of equipment, passage of catheters and guidewires.
  • Operate fluoroscope equipment, laser, and other equipment associated with interventional vascular and cardiac procedures. Practices radiation safety in accordance of regulations.
  • Prepare radiopaque materials for administration by physician. Draw up contrast for injections.
  • Completes records accurately, includes procedure documentation, billing, supplies, radiation exposure.
  • Assist in patient positioning and patient transfers.
  • Assist in checking of daily controls for all equipment utilized in routine care of patient; ensure medical equipment is in working order and all supplies are available.
  • Assist in training and acts as a preceptor of new technologists, physicians, nurses, students. Serve as a role model.
  • Cover off-shift call requirements based on unit needs. Float to other areas within institution to support staffing needs of other departments within scope of practice.
  • Obtain and maintain all certifications, including BLS, required.
Experience Required
  • 0-2 years of experience; 3-5 years of experience preferred
  • Communication – Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and coworkers
  • Operate fluoro unit along with all supporting equipment needed to perform interventional procedures
Education Requirements
  • Diploma or equivalent
  • Certificate of Completion/Degree from accredited Radiology Program or Vascular Program, associate degree preferred
  • Graduate of AMA approved Radiology Technologist Program, NJ DEP license required upon hire
License/Certification Requirements
  • AART
  • NJDEP
  • BLS from American Heart Association
Special Requirements
  • Full time, 40 hours a week
