Job Summary

The International Accounting & Finance Manager is a finance and accounting leader responsible for overseeing international accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end closing processes, planning and forecasting, currency movements, tax reporting, insurance management, statutory compliance, and the integrity of accounting controls across Continental Resources’ international operations. This role partners closely with Operations, Treasury, Tax, Legal, Human Resources, Information Technology, Corporate Planning and other business functions to ensure accurate, timely financial information and effective support for business decisions.

 

This position serves as a key liaison with international subsidiaries and in-country teams, supports internal and external audits, drives process improvements and technology enablement, and promotes adherence to U.S. GAAP, IFRS, local accounting standards, SOX requirements, and company policies.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Oversees international accounting and reporting functions, including management of month-end close processes, account reconciliations, consolidations, foreign currency translation, intercompany activity, and internal controls over financial reporting; maintains and improves accounting policies and procedures.
  • Leads the preparation and review of internal financial reports, management materials, statutory financial statements, and other reporting deliverables for international entities and business stakeholders.
  • Partners with Operations, Treasury, Business Development, Tax, Legal, Human Resources, Information Technology, and others to manage the accounting impacts of international business initiatives, transactions, joint ventures, expatriate activities, ERP implementations, and special projects.
  • Manages technical international accounting assessments, including research and documentation of complex accounting transactions in coordination with Corporate Accounting, application of U.S. GAAP and IFRS, and implementation of new accounting standards; communicates impacts to leadership.
  • Supports international operations and serves as liaison with international subsidiaries and in-country advisors to ensure compliance with local accounting standards, tax and regulatory requirements, and statutory audit requirements.
  • Oversees internal and external financial/statutory audits, coordinates requests and deliverables, evaluates control effectiveness, and drives timely resolution of audit findings.
  • Drives process optimization and technology enablement, including ERP enhancements, reporting automation, standardized close and reporting processes, and data-quality governance.
  • Develops and coaches accounting and finance professionals; builds effective cross-functional teams and fosters a culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose root causes, assess risk, and implement practical solutions across multiple countries and functions.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including U.S. GAAP, IFRS, international financial reporting, statutory accounting, internal controls, and audit requirements.
  • Develops and delivers communication that conveys a clear understanding of complex financial and accounting matters to different audiences.
  • Builds strong cross-functional and cross-cultural relationships and delivers tailored solutions to internal stakeholders.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; professional fluency in English and Spanish strongly preferred.

Required Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Knowledge of oil and gas industry accounting or experience in a comparable multinational energy or industrial environment.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including the ability to research, document, and communicate the impacts of complex accounting issues.
  • Experience managing monthly closing processes and preparing internal financial reports.
  • Experience with international operations, foreign subsidiaries, local accounting standards, and statutory audit requirements.
  • Experience developing or maintaining internal controls and supporting internal and external financial audits.
  • Experience supervising, coaching, or developing accounting and finance professionals.
  • An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Certified Public Accountant.
  • Experience with a large public accounting or international assurance firm.
  • Experience leading finance or accounting operations across multiple countries, branches, or legal entities.
  • Professional fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Experience with U.S. GAAP and IFRS adoption, financial reporting standardization, consolidations, foreign currency translation, or cross-border accounting and treasury matters.
  • Experience with enterprise ERP systems, accounting platforms, reporting tools, and finance process automation.
  • Prior involvement in process transformation, internal-controls implementation, or system implementations.
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, integrations, or other strategic transactions.
  • Experience working with international operations in Latin America, the Middle East, or other complex geographic markets.

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

 

  • May require periodic domestic or international travel and collaboration across multiple time zones.
  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
