Mission
Lead, under the guidance of the Head of Internal Audit for the US & Canada, the execution of assurance and advisory activities across Ferrovial's North American businesses, acting as a trusted business partner in a dynamic and international environment. Assess the reliability of internal information and its alignment with the existing procedural framework. Ensure that Ferrovial's operational, financial, and management processes are appropriately designed, effectively controlled, and consistently applied across the organization. This role combines technical audit expertise, business acumen, and people leadership to support the company's continued growth in the infrastructure, construction, and transportation sectors.
Role Duties:
• Lead and execute risk-based internal audits across Ferrovial's businesses in accordance with the approved audit plan and Internal Audit methodology. Manage the end-to-end execution of engagements covering governance, risk management, internal controls, accounting, financial reporting, project controls, procurement, contract management, capital expenditures, cost management, and other key business processes.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen controls, improve efficiency, mitigate risks, and provide value-added advisory insights to the business.
• Supervise the collection and analysis of information, evaluate identified discrepancies, and discuss findings with business and functional stakeholders.
• Prepare and communicate clear audit conclusions and practical recommendations to senior and executive management, influencing decision-making through concise and actionable business insights.
• Monitor the implementation of agreed action plans and assess the effectiveness of corrective measures.
• Lead, coach, and develop Internal Audit team members. Supervise and review the work performed by internal auditors and external resources to ensure high-quality deliverables and adherence to Internal Audit standards.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with business and functional leadership across a diverse international organization, serving as a trusted advisor while maintaining the independence and objectivity of the Internal Audit function and constructively challenging stakeholders when appropriate.
• Ensure that Internal Audit methodologies, procedures, and documentation standards are consistently applied and kept up to date.
• Support the Head of Internal Audit in the annual risk assessment process, the identification of emerging risks, and the development of the annual audit plan.
• Embrace a mindset of continuous improvement and innovation, enhancing the Internal Audit methodology through digitalization initiatives, advanced analytics, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 8+ years of relevant professional experience in Internal Audit, External Audit, Risk Advisory, Internal Controls, Accounting, Financial Analysis, or related functions.
• Demonstrated experience leading audit engagements, managing teams, and driving results in complex organizational environments.
• Strong business acumen and a broad understanding of business practices. Experience in infrastructure, construction, engineering, transportation, energy, airports, or other capital-intensive sectors is preferred.
• Strong leadership and people management capabilities, with the ability to develop, mentor, and motivate team members while promoting collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively and influence senior leadership and executive management, translating complex technical matters into concise and actionable business insights.
• Knowledge of internal controls and audit practices, including expertise in risk and control frameworks and financial policies and procedures, such as IFRS, US GAAP, SOX, and ICFR.
• Knowledge of project accounting, project controls, procurement, contract management, capital expenditure management, and large-scale project environments will be highly valued.
• CPA, CIA, CFA, or other relevant professional certifications are preferred.
• Candidates must be analytical, methodical, organized, proactive, and possess strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to thrive in dynamic business environments and operate effectively in a fast-paced, international organization.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% of the year
