Interior Electrician Lead

Location: Colorado Springs, CO (United States Air Force Academy)

Type: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule: Full Time, Day Shift. On-call work may also be required based on operational needs.

Compensation: $42.59 hourly

Tessera is seeking a reliable, safety-focused Interior Electrician Lead to support electrical operations at the USAFA. The Interior Electrician Lead provides expert-level electrical support and field leadership for facility operations at the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA). This position ensures the safe, efficient, and code-compliant installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, while also guiding and mentoring team members through hands-on technical instruction. The Interior Electrician Lead plays a critical role in planning and executing electrical work, promoting safety and quality standards, and maintaining operational readiness across lighting, power distribution, and control systems in a secure, mission-driven environment.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:
  • Lead and perform inspection, testing, and diagnosis of electrical systems including lighting, motors, generators, UPS, controls, and intercommunication systems
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to electricians and maintenance staff in the field
  • Support training efforts by demonstrating proper techniques, reviewing work quality, and reinforcing safety and code compliance
  • Plan and lay out electrical work using diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and maintenance manuals
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on lighting systems, including lamp and ballast replacement, fixture cleaning, and re-lamping
  • Verify time/labor via Maximo, purchase materials, etc.
  • Install and repair outlets, switches, circuit breakers, sensors, and ground fault interrupters
  • Operate lift equipment to service elevated electrical systems
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and associated costs
  • Ensure proper wire identification and connection during installations and repairs
  • Wear appropriate PPE and follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and arc flash protocol
  • Perform general maintenance tasks and support other trades as assigned
  • Work from ladders, man lifts, and in confined spaces or adverse weather condition
  • Maintain professionalism in appearance, conduct, and communication
  • Perform lockout/tagout as required
  • Perform on-call/standby work as needed
