The Director of Critical Care has major responsibility for implementation of strategies and activities designed to achieve and support uncompromising quality, exceptional patient safety and an outstanding patient / family experience. The Director of Critical Care assures the coordination of care across department lines through a focus on systems that promote interadisciplinary collaboration and communication. EDUCATION:
Minimum:
3 Master's degree in nursing or related area such as MBA, MPA
LICENSE:
Minimum:
3 Current NYS license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse.
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
3 Certification for Emergency Nursing within one year.
3 BLS, ACLS, PALS through the RQI system during clinical orientation.
3 Basic Coronary Care obtained within 6 months of hire.
3 CPI certification obtained within 6 months of hire.
Preferred:
3 CEN or relevant certification strongly desired and TNCC
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
3 5 years of critical care nursing experience and strong clinical expertise.
3 at least three (3) years of progressive nursing leadership experience in an acute care hospital environment, preferably in emergency services and/or intensive care services
SKILLS:
Minimum:
3 Candidate must have a demonstrated track record of improving department operations.
3 This includes quality, patient safety, productivity, efficiency and customer satisfaction (employee and patient).
3 Candidate must have experience with emergency department performance indicators and using data to support analysis and solutions.
3 Candidate must have experience applying best practices and innovative strategies to improve performance metrics, quality and the customer experience.
3 Candidate must have experience establishing, building and developing positive relationships with staff and physicians.
3 Must be a highly visible, engaged, take charge leader who has a willingness to coach and mentor.
3 Candidate must have knowledge and understanding of State, Federal and Joint Commission requirements.
3 Experience with Microsoft Office products including word, excel and power point & Meditech
