Context & Environment

Activities

ACTIVITIES:

  • Lead and oversee all transmission and interconnection activities for solar, wind, load, and battery energy storage (BESS) projects across the United States
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects meet interconnection requirements and progress efficiently through ISO/RTO processes
  • Provide technical guidance and compliance support, ensuring accurate project documentation and effective information flow across teams
  • Conduct interconnection due diligence for acquisitions, assessing risks, costs, and opportunities across project portfolios
  • Participate in ISO/RTO stakeholder processes and working groups to stay informed on queue reforms, regulatory changes, and evolving interconnection requirements
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and regional grid codes and regulatory frameworks
  • Negotiate complex transmission and generator interconnection agreements (e.g., IA, ISA, CSA) with utilities and transmission providers
  • Build and manage relationships with external consultants, while developing efficient processes for partner engagement and maintaining interconnection data and study databases
  • Mentor junior team members and support internal stakeholders in navigating interconnection timelines, milestones, and deliverables
  • Support broader team and organizational priorities through additional responsibilities as needed


Candidate Profile

PURPOSES:

  • Leading all transmission and interconnection activities for solar, wind, BESS, and load projects
  • Advancing the project pipeline
  • Ensuring successful integration of renewable assets into the grid
  • (Optionally) Owning interconnection strategy across U.S. projects


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field required; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in generation interconnection, transmission planning, power systems engineering, or a related field within the renewable energy sector
  • Strong knowledge of power systems, grid architecture, and renewable energy technologies
  • Proficiency with power system modeling and analysis tools (e.g., PSS®E, PowerWorld, PSLF, PSCAD, TARA)
  • Solid understanding of RTO/ISO transmission planning and generator interconnection processes within one or more major U.S. markets (e.g., ERCOT, CAISO, PJM, SPP, MISO, NYISO, WECC)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing demands while contributing effectively within a collaborative team
