Overview

Kimley-Horn's Virginia Beach, Virginia (VA) office is seeking an Electrical or Civil Engineer with 3+ years of experience. You will contribute to the planning and design of various sized ITS projects locally and around the country. On the job training opportunities will be provided if all minimum qualifications are not met. This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities
  • Design of traffic signals, communications, and electrical systems for transportation (ITS), aviation, site development lighting, and renewable energy (solar and EV Infrastructure) projects
  • Participate on project teams in an active production role
  • Preparation of ITS planning studies and design projects
  • Preparation of project specifications
  • Preparation of construction cost estimates
  • Daily interaction and collaboration on multi-disciplinary teams
  • Coordination and verification of as-built drawings
  • Perform quality work that meets or exceeds client expectations
  • Responsible for the development of reports and design documents, including fiber optic cable routing plans, photometric analyses, electrical floor plans, equipment schematic diagrams, equipment block diagrams, equipment load calculations, and connection diagrams

Base Salary Range:

$85,000.00 - $100,000.00

Qualifications
  • 3 years of experience in consulting electrical and/or Intelligent Transportation Systems engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering
  • EIT or ability to obtain EIT
  • Proficiency using Computer-Aided Design and Drafting such as AutoCAD or OpenRoads Designer
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office apps - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • The ability to manage time effectively on concurrent projects
  • Qualifications that are beneficial but not required:
  • Advanced college degreesUnderstanding of the National Electrical Code, other NFPA codes/standards, and energy codesBuilding Information Modeling (BIM 6 Autodesk Revit) experienceSecurity and communication design experienceExperience in lighting electrical and photometric design using tools such as AGI32Experience in Power Studies, such as Short Circuit Study, Coordination Study, and Arc Flash Analysis (SKM PowerTools)
