ABOUT THE JOBYou will own the test infrastructure that lets Mission Systems prove payload and autonomy behavior before it reaches the water. Reporting to the Payload Lead, you will build and lead the hardware-in-the-loop benches, define the test strategy across simulation and real hardware, and make the HITL environment the place where problems get found - not at sea, where finding them is expensive and slow.
Your spectrum of support will be diverse in nature and require you to leverage your technical expertise as well as leadership skills to set objectives, build cross-functional teams, and rapidly drive to completion. The ability to leverage your intuition and prior experience will be key in making sure the right design, analysis, and test steps are completed to ensure success. The ideal candidate will leverage their experience executing and successfully completing prior highly optimized multi-disciplinary projects.
WHAT YOU'LL DO- Own HITL bench architecture, build-out, and operation for payload and autonomy testing.
- Define test strategy spanning unit, SITL, HITL, and at-sea validation.
- Build hardware and software simulators for payloads, sensors, and vehicle subsystems.
- Develop automated regression suites that run against real hardware.
- Own test instrumentation, data capture, and results analysis tooling.
- Lead test execution for payload integration campaigns and support at-sea events.
- Drive defect triage and root cause analysis from test findings back into engineering.
- Set test coverage standards and define what must pass before hardware goes to sea.
- Travel up to 30% to test sites and at-sea events.
- Responsible/own requirements validation and traceability matrix
- Making sure milestones/boxes are checked
- Partnering with systems engineering
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree in an engineering or computer science discipline, or equivalent.
- 7+ years in test engineering, integration and test, or test infrastructure development.
- Demonstrated ownership of a hardware-in-the-loop environment for a complex system.
- Strong software skills - Python plus C++ or Rust - for test automation and simulators.
- Experience building simulators or emulators that stand in for real hardware.
- Hands-on hardware instrumentation and lab debugging experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Experience leading a test team or test function.
- Background with robotics, autonomous vehicle, aerospace, or maritime test environments.
- Experience with automated regression against hardware in CI.
- Familiarity with test instrumentation, DAQ systems, and data analysis pipelines.
- Experience in defense programs with formal verification or qualification test requirements.
