Integrated Systems Planning Strategy Senior Analyst / Consultant serves as a key strategic integrator between technical planning organizations and business leadership by integrating information from across the organization into a cohesive story of APS's future system needs, investments and strategic priorities. Reports to the Manager of Integrated System Planning (ISP) and supports the development, maintenance and governance of APS's Integrated System Plan. Coordinates with stakeholders across multiple business areas to communicate portfolio-level impacts, dependencies, risks and opportunities that influence strategic planning decisions. Functions with substantial independence in developing executive communication, strategic narratives and planning recommendations. Exercises seasoned judgement in resolving complex planning issues, influencing stakeholders and translating diverse planning perspectives into actionable recommendations for leadership.
Minimum RequirementsIntegrated Systems Planning Strategy Senior Analyst- A four-year Bachelors Degree in business, communications, finance, economics, engineering, project management, public administration or other job-related field from an accredited college or university
- Plus five (5) years related experience in executive communications, business analysis, reporting, project management, strategic planning and/or consulting.
- In lieu of bachelors degree, combination of college coursework and/or experience business analysis, reporting, project management, strategic planning, consulting and/or communications equaling 9 years.
Integrated Systems Planning Strategy Consultant - A four-year Bachelors Degree in business, communications, finance, economics, engineering, project management, public administration or other job-related field from an accredited college or university
- Plus seven (7) years related experience in executive communications, business analysis, reporting, project management, strategic planning and/or consulting.
- In lieu of bachelors degree, combination of college coursework and/or experience business analysis, reporting, project management, strategic planning, consulting and/or communications equaling 11 years.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications:- Ability to independently evaluate highly complex, ambiguous and cross-functional planning issues and formulate strategic recommendations with minimal direction.
- Exceptional communication, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills, including ability to develop executive-level communications, strategic narratives and decision-support materials.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and other Microsoft 365 applications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI or equivalent data visualization tools.
- Ability to translate complex technical, operational and financial information into clear, actionable insights for leadership audiences.
- Experience supporting executive leadership, governance forums and strategic decision-making processes.
- Knowledge of utility operations, integrated planning, resource planning, transmission planning, capital planning and/or portfolio management.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, competing priorities and cross-functional stakeholder relationships.
Major Accountabilities1) Develops and maintains executive reporting and decision-support materials that provide transparency into Integrated System Plan assumptions, portfolio changes, risks and dependencies. Ensures communication materials reflect validated information and clearly communicate implications for execution feasibility, reliability, affordability, defensibility and strategic priority alignment.
2) Coordinates with stakeholders across Resource Planning, Transmission Planning, New Generation, Finance, System Operations, Regulatory Affairs and other business units as necessary to gather, document, analyze, organize and communicate information supporting strategic planning activities and leadership decision-making.
3) Researches, analyzes and summarizes information related to planning activities, business initiatives, capital investments, risks, assumptions, emerging issues and other business analysis activities supporting the Integrated System Plan.
4) Synthesizes planning analyses and stakeholder input into executive-level recommendations, decision alternatives, strategic narratives and decision-support materials supporting leadership review of resource plans, transmission plans, capital investments and portfolio priorities.
5) Creates visualizations, graphics, reporting formats, presentation materials and strategic narratives that improve communication of complex planning concepts, portfolio impacts and business tradeoffs supporting the Integrated System Plan.
6) Supports governance and change-management processes associated with the Integrated System Plan through documentation and communication of key decisions, assumptions, impacts and portfolio changes.
7) Participates in cross-functional project teams and planning initiatives to drive organizational alignment and support integration of planning assumptions, priorities and portfolio objectives.
8) Monitors industry, regulatory, market and technology developments that may influence long-term system planning strategies, portfolio priorities and investment decisions.
Hybrid: Employees in hybrid roles work both in their home offices (virtually) and alongside their colleagues (in person).
In order for employees to build strong relationships and to promote meaningful in-person interactions, hybrid employees are expected to work about 40% of their time in-person at an APS or other (non-home office) location.
- Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).
- Working from a home office requires adequate technology and an appropriate ergonomic set up.
