About this Role

Quanta Power Solutions isseekinga highly skilledSenior Instrumentation Designerto lead the design and development of instrumentation and control system deliverables for power generation, renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), data centers, substations, transmission, and industrial infrastructure projects. This senior-level position serves as a technical leader within the design organization, providingexpertisein instrumentation design, multidisciplinary coordination, and construction package development while supporting Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) project execution.

The ideal candidate willpossessextensive experience in instrumentation and controls design, advanced 3D modeling capabilities, and a strong understanding of industrial automation systems and construction practices.

What You'll Do

Instrumentation Design Leadership

  • Lead the development of complex instrumentation and control system design packages for EPC projects.
  • Prepare, review, and approve:
  • Instrument location plansandinstallation details
  • Loop diagrams
  • Wiring and interconnection diagrams
  • Junction box layouts
  • Instrument cable schedules
  • Instrument indexes and I/O schedules
  • Control panel, marshalling cabinet, and PLC cabinet layouts
  • Instrument raceway and cable routing drawings
  • P&ID markups and updates
  • Control system interface drawings
  • Construction work packages
  • Interpret engineering specifications, vendor documentation, client requirements, and industry standards to develop complete and constructible design solutions.
  • Ensure instrumentation designs meet operational, safety, maintainability, and constructability requirements.

Advanced Design & Modeling

  • Lead instrumentation design effortsutilizingAutoCAD, Revit, Plant 3D, Navisworks,SmartPlantInstrumentation, Aveva Instrumentation, and related software platforms.
  • Develop and coordinate complex instrumentation layouts within 3D models and BIM environments.
  • Perform clash detection reviews and coordinate resolution of interdisciplinary conflicts.
  • Support digital engineering initiatives and model-based project delivery.
  • Establish andmaintaininstrumentation drafting and modeling standards.

Construction & Commissioning Support

  • Conduct field verification activities, site walkdowns, and equipment inspections.
  • Provide technical support during construction, startup, and commissioning activities.
  • Review and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of field design issues.
  • Review and incorporate as-built information into final project documentation.
  • Assistwith startup readiness reviews and turnover documentation.

Mentorship & Technical Development

  • Mentor Instrumentation Designer I, II, III, and IV personnel.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior designers and drafters.
  • Review design deliverables for accuracy, quality, and compliance.
  • Support onboarding and development of new team members.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.
What You'll Bring

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree in Drafting Technology, Engineering Technology, Instrumentation Technology, or related technical disciplinepreferred.
  • Minimum10+ years of instrumentation design experience in power generation, industrial, utility, renewable energy, data center, or EPC environments.
  • Extensive experience supporting large multidisciplinary engineering and construction projects.
  • Experience with power plants, battery energy storage facilities, substations, industrial facilities, or mission-critical infrastructurestronglypreferred.

Technical Skills

  • Industrial instrumentation systems and installation practices.
  • Instrument loop design and control system interfaces.
  • PLC, DCS, SCADA, and HMI systems.
  • Instrument raceway, conduit, and cable routing design.
  • Industrial construction and commissioning practices.
  • Instrumentationdrafting standards and design methodologies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite,AutoCAD,Revit, Plant 3D,Navisworks,SmartPlantor AvevaInstrumentaiton.
  • Familiarity with ISA, NEC, IEEE,InsdustrialAutomation and Control System standards.
  • EPC Project Execution processes andworkflows.

Travel Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 25% asrequiredfor field verification, project meetings, construction support, commissioning activities, and client engagements.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in active industrial facilities, power plants, substations, battery storage facilities, data centers, and construction environments.
