Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer for an immediate, full-time contract opportunity supporting the development of engaging, scalable learning programs. This hybrid role requires 40 hours per week, with three days onsite in Boston and two days remote. Candidates most likely to secure an interview will bring at least four years of instructional design experience, strong knowledge of adult learning principles, and hands-on expertise with Articulate 360 and Camtasia.
Must Haves - Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of instructional design experience, including adult learning, digital learning, and rapid development methodologies.
- Advanced proficiency with Articulate 360, including Storyline and Rise, as well as Camtasia.
- Demonstrated experience owning the complete learning development lifecycle, from needs assessment and design through implementation and evaluation.
- Strong background in curriculum development, training needs analysis, instructional design, and eLearning development.
- Proven project management skills with the ability to balance multiple projects, stakeholders, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent written, verbal, editing, and presentation skills, with strong attention to quality and detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project.
What the Client Needs You to Do The successful candidate will transform business and workforce learning needs into practical, engaging training experiences that can be delivered at scale. You will partner with subject matter experts and cross-functional stakeholders to identify learning objectives, recommend appropriate instructional approaches, and develop polished learning materials across multiple delivery formats.
You will be expected to independently move projects from initial analysis through final delivery while maintaining quality, consistency, accessibility, and alignment with established standards. The role requires someone who can quickly understand complex information, convert it into learner-friendly content, and proactively solve problems when requirements or priorities change.
Key Responsibilities - Analyze workforce and stakeholder learning needs to determine appropriate instructional strategies, delivery methods, and program structures.
- Design blended learning experiences that may incorporate instructor-led sessions, virtual training, video-based instruction, microlearning, and self-paced digital modules.
- Develop eLearning courses, videos, curricula, job aids, supporting resources, and detailed storyboards aligned with clearly defined learning objectives.
- Build interactive learning experiences using Articulate Storyline, Rise, Camtasia, and other relevant development technologies.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to gather information, validate content, clarify requirements, and translate complex material into effective training.
- Manage multiple learning and development projects independently, maintaining schedules, coordinating dependencies, and delivering work within established timelines.
- Apply adult learning principles, rapid development practices, and current instructional design methodologies throughout the development lifecycle.
- Review and edit training materials and communications to ensure accuracy, consistency, usability, and adherence to established style guidelines and templates.
- Resolve project challenges through sound judgment, critical thinking, prioritization, and proactive communication with relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain awareness of emerging learning technologies, digital training approaches, and instructional design trends to continuously improve learning experiences.
