Full Job Description
We're looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to help communities build the water and wastewater systems they depend on, from the first conversation about funding through the day the system goes live.
This role is for an engineer who enjoys both sides of municipal work: the technical design and the long-term relationships with the towns and utilities we serve. Many of our clients are smaller communities that rely on us to help them find a path forward, from planning and funding through design and construction. You'll be the one guiding them through it.
What You'll Be Doing:
You'll lead municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater projects from early planning through construction. Along the way, you'll:
- Lead design of water distribution, wells, towers, sewer collection, lift stations, and treatment facility upgrades
- Perform and review hydraulic modeling for water and sewer systems
- Help clients secure funding through programs like SRF, USDA Rural Development, and CDBG, including preparing PERs, facility plans, and applications
- Serve as a trusted advisor to municipal clients, presenting to city councils and utility boards
- Provide senior oversight during construction
- Mentor and review the work of engineers and designers on your team
What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years of municipal water and/or wastewater design experience
- Active PE license [in Missouri, or the ability to obtain one??]
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited program
- Experience with hydraulic modeling and producing plans, specs, and cost estimates
- Experience with infrastructure funding programs, or a strong interest in building that expertise
- Comfort working directly with city officials and presenting to public boards
- A sense of ownership: you care about the work, your clients, and the communities they serve
- Willingness to travel occasionally to communities in Missouri for council meetings, client visits, and site work
Benefits
We take care of the people who take care of the work. That includes:
- Employee ownership (ESOP) at no cost to you
- 401(k) with a 3% company contribution
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage
- 16 days of PTO plus 8 paid holidays, growing with tenure
- Paid parental leave
- Company-paid life and disability insurance
- Training and leadership development programs
