Behind every cutting-edge software capability fielded to the warfighter stands a secure, resilient, and high-performance network foundation. Within the 579th Software Engineering Squadron (579 SWES), Production Support is the operational backbone that empowers squadron production flights to innovate, test, and deploy critical defense software without interruption.
In this senior role, you will hold enterprise responsibility for managing and safeguarding our Local and Wide Area Networks (LAN/WAN) across all voice, data, and video communications. Working within a specialized Special Program Office environment, you will pioneer end-to-end network engineering, oversee software laboratory environments, and ensure uncompromising information system security. If you are ready to apply senior-level network architecture and cybersecurity expertise to mission-vital defense systems, your next challenge awaits.
What You Will Accomplish:
- As a Senior IT Specialist, you will spearhead network engineering, infrastructure modernization, and system security across the squadron's production flights.
- Architect & Manage Resilient Enterprise Networks: Lead the full lifecycle management-planning, analysis, acquisition, design, installation, integration, and operational maintenance-of robust LAN/WAN infrastructure supporting voice, data, and video communications.
- Safeguard Special Program Office Environments: Enforce rigorous information system security standards and governance required in sensitive special access environments, defending squadron networks against vulnerabilities and emerging threats.
- Power Advanced Software Engineering Laboratories: Deliver world-class infrastructure and laboratory support to enable multi-flight production, rapid prototyping, and software verification testing.
- Ensure Operational Integrity & Quality Assurance: Establish stringent configuration baselines, execute rigorous maintenance testing, and drive quality assurance initiatives that guarantee continuous network availability and peak performance.
- Advance Materiel Readiness & Production Monitoring: Partner across production flights to ensure continuous hardware/software readiness, streamline production monitoring workflows, and enforce process governance.
- Uphold Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Integrate Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health (ESOH) standards into technical operations and laboratory workspaces, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient engineering facilities.
This Role Is For You If You Are:
- We are seeking a seasoned network and cybersecurity leader who excels in high-stakes defense software environments.
- A Senior Network Architect: You possess comprehensive, full-lifecycle expertise across enterprise LAN/WAN architectures, advanced routing/switching, hardware acquisition, and multi-format (voice/data/video) systems engineering.
- A Rigorous Security Strategist: You bring deep knowledge of information assurance and compliance within Special Program Office environments, taking pride in locking down sensitive networks against sophisticated threats.
- A Collaborative Mission Enabler: You understand that network stability directly drives software development productivity, and you thrive partnering with engineers, project planners, and leadership to remove technical roadblocks.
- A Governance & Quality Champion: You value disciplined process management, robust configuration control, and proactive production monitoring to prevent outages before they happen.
- Dedicated to National Defense: You are driven by mission impact, knowing that the integrity and security of the 579 SWES networks directly underpin vital software capabilities delivered to the frontline warfighter.
Superior defense software demands uninterrupted, impenetrable network infrastructure. At the 579th Software Engineering Squadron, your technical leadership will directly protect and empower our software engineering capabilities.
Lead our network infrastructure. Defend our software baseline. Apply today and make an immediate impact on national defense.
