Description
The
Information Systems Director serves as a strategic partner to Verland's executive leadership and department heads, providing in-depth technical expertise to support business decisions and IT initiatives. The Information Systems Director is responsible for aligning technology with Verland's strategic priorities, driving best practices that optimize infrastructure and operating costs, and ensuring the secure, reliable, and cost-effective operation of all information systems. This is a salaried exempt position.
Contributions: - Develop and operationalize Verland's IT strategy, recommending short- and long-term goals aligned with corporate priorities and ensuring key business processes are supported by systems that enable growth.
- Chair the Information Technology Steering Committee, comprised of executive-level managers, which develops and maintains Verland's technology strategic plan.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leaders and department heads on all technology matters, translating business needs into technology solutions.
- Seek out and evaluate emerging technologies, and educate stakeholders on their potential to deliver return on investment through innovation, efficiency, and competitive advantage.
- Prepare the departmental operating and capital budgets, and drive implementation of best practices that optimize infrastructure and operating costs.
- Oversee capital projects to meet target dates and budget expectations, and develop strategies for transitioning from existing to new technologies.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the IT department to achieve secure, reliable, and cost-effective operation of IT infrastructure, networks, and applications, and ensure service-level requirements are met.
- Develop, implement, and monitor IT governance standards, policies, and controls to ensure data integrity, security, availability, and legal and regulatory compliance.
- Act as Chief Security Officer with respect to data and network security. Develop, maintain, and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Measure and report IT performance to executive leadership through periodic oral and written reports, implementing improvements where necessary.
- Build an IT culture focused on business alignment, accountability for outcomes, and continuous improvement; drive transformational change while balancing business, infrastructure, and technology needs.
- Directly supervise, coach, mentor, and develop employees in the IT Department. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts and issues into terms understandable to technical, non-technical, and executive-level audiences.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to resolve problems professionally and participate effectively in cross-functional working groups.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, establish and meet deadlines, and document activities, processes, and procedures.
- A customer service mindset toward internal staff and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of current IT practices and emerging technologies, and of systems planning methods including security administration, capacity planning, and cost-benefit and ROI analysis.
Minimum Training and Experience:- Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field; master's degree in a related discipline preferred.
- Minimum of eight years of relevant work experience, with most recent experience leading an organization's IT operations, systems, and teams.
- Professional certifications (e.g., information security, cloud, IT service management) are a plus.
