Job Overview

Job Title: Information Assurance Technician

Location: Scott AFB, Illinois

Job Responsibilities

Trace Systems is seeking an Information Assurance Technician to perform hands-on vulnerability scanning, remediation validation, compliance tracking, and cyber-incident support for EACN at Scott AFB. The project associated with this position is currently in the proposal stage.
  • Perform weekly network vulnerability scans using approved Air Force tools such as ACAS and document results.
  • Analyze findings, validate remediation, and provide status for the EACN Security-Compliance Report.
  • Support implementation and tracking of patches, updates, STIGs, and cyber orders across network hardware and software.
  • Maintain compliance information in DISA VMS/CMRS and Air Force compliance-tracking systems.
  • Provide technical configuration information and documentation to Government engineers, the ISSM, and the IA Manager.
  • Perform first-responder scans, Post-Notification Investigation support, and Network Defense incident-reporting tasks.
  • Collect and back up IDS Defense Center configuration and data, syslog, firewall, and DNS logs as directed.
  • Support ATO documentation, vulnerability remediation, and secure configuration of EACN systems.

In compliance with applicable state and local pay transparency requirements, the following compensation information is provided for this position. The base salary range represents the minimum and maximum compensation Trace reasonably expects to offer for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation within the range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, location, experience, qualifications, skills, and performance.

Salary Minimum: $70,000
Salary Maximum: $95,000

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active, in-scope US Government issued Secret clearance (minimum); higher-level eligibility may be required based on assigned access.
  • Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements, US Citizenship is required.
  • Candidates must meet the applicable DoD 8140 qualification requirements for the assigned work role. DoD 8140 Work Role(s): 541 Vulnerability Assessment Technician, Proficiency Level: Intermediate; and may qualify through education, military training, certifications, or a combination thereof.
  • Qualifying 8140 credentials include a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Cybersecurity or Data Science or Information Systems or Information Technology or Software Engineering or completion of relevant military communications or network training.
  • Qualifying 8140 certifications may include CEH(P), RCCE Level 1, Cloud+, CPTE, FITSP-A, GCED, GCIH, GCSA, GICSP, GSEC, PenTest+, Security+, or other DoD 8140-approved certifications. Higher proficiency-level or equivalent DoD 8140-approved certifications applicable to the assigned work role may also be accepted.
  • Active Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Ability to work in a secure DoD environment and comply with applicable Air Force, installation, and program security requirements.
  • 3+ years of cybersecurity, information assurance, vulnerability management, or secure network support experience.

Desired Qualification

  • Experience with VMS/CMRS, ACT, IDS, syslog, firewall and DNS analysis, eMASS, or Air Force ATO support.
  • Experience supporting EACN, A2G2, classified networks, or an Air Force cybersecurity program.
  • Prior military service or experience supporting Department of Defense or U.S. Air Force customers.
  • Experience supporting mission-essential communications in distributed, multi-site environments.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information technology, or a related field preferred.
