Full Job Description
Help Build the Team That Builds Our Communities

ProWest is seeking an experienced, relationship-driven In-House Recruiter to lead our recruiting efforts and help us attract exceptional people across our construction operations.

This is an opportunity for a recruiter who enjoys being more than a resume screener. You will be a trusted partner to company leadership and hiring managers, helping shape the workforce behind meaningful commercial and public-sector construction projects. You will recruit for a broad range of roles from field supervision and skilled trades to project management, estimating, accounting, and administrative support while strengthening the candidate experience and supporting ProWest's long-term growth.

The Opportunity

As our In-House Recruiter, you will own and continuously improve the recruiting process from workforce planning through offer acceptance and onboarding coordination. You will work closely with executives, department leaders, and project teams to understand staffing needs, identify strong candidates, and build a reliable talent pipeline for both immediate and future needs.

This position is ideal for someone who is organized, proactive, personable, and comfortable recruiting in a fast-paced construction environment.

What You'll Do
  • Partner with leadership and hiring managers to understand current and future staffing needs.
  • Develop clear, compelling job postings that accurately reflect the role, the opportunity, and ProWest's culture.
  • Source, screen, interview, and evaluate candidates for office, professional, field, and leadership positions.
  • Build and maintain candidate pipelines for key recurring roles, including project managers, project engineers, superintendents, estimators, administrative personnel, and skilled field employees.
  • Use a variety of sourcing methods, including job boards, referrals, industry networks, trade associations, schools, social media, recruiting platforms, and direct outreach.
  • Coordinate interviews, candidate communications, reference checks, screening processes, offers, and pre-employment steps.
  • Create a professional, responsive, and respectful candidate experience from first contact through onboarding.
  • Help strengthen ProWest's employment brand and communicate what makes the company a great place to build a career.
  • Track recruiting activity, time-to-fill, sourcing effectiveness, candidate flow, and other meaningful hiring metrics.
  • Recommend practical improvements to recruiting systems, hiring processes, interview practices, and onboarding coordination.
  • Support employee referral, internship, apprenticeship, and workforce-development initiatives.
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality and ensure recruiting practices align with applicable employment requirements and company policies.

What We're Looking For
  • Proven recruiting experience, preferably in commercial construction, engineering, skilled trades, manufacturing, industrial services, professional services, or another fast-paced operational environment.
  • Experience recruiting a mix of field, technical, professional, and administrative positions.
  • Strong sourcing skills and the confidence to actively seek out qualified candidates rather than relying solely on inbound applicants.
  • Ability to build credibility with field personnel, hiring managers, executives, and candidates at all career levels.
  • Excellent interviewing, communication, organization, and follow-through skills.
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and a high level of professionalism when handling confidential information.
  • Ability to manage multiple open positions and priorities without losing attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems, job-posting platforms, recruiting databases, and Microsoft Office.
  • A practical, service-oriented mindset and a genuine interest in helping people find the right long-term opportunity.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • Construction-industry recruiting experience.
  • Experience supporting public works, commercial construction, prime contractors, subcontractors, or skilled-trade workforce hiring.
  • Knowledge of California employment practices, pre-employment processes, and recruiting compliance.
  • Professional recruiting or HR certification, such as SHRM, PHR, AIRS, or similar credentials.

What Success Looks Like

In this role, you will help ProWest hire quality people more consistently, reduce reliance on outside recruiters, improve the candidate and hiring manager experience, and develop a stronger bench of talent for the future.

You will be successful if you are equally comfortable talking with a superintendent before a job walk, partnering with an executive on a key leadership hire, following up with a promising candidate after hours, and improving the systems that keep the entire hiring process moving.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $85,000 to $110,000 annually, depending on relevant experience, construction-industry knowledge, demonstrated recruiting results, and qualifications. This position is also eligible for a performance-based bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.

Apply

If you are a recruiting professional who understands the importance of finding the right people, not just available people, we would like to hear from you.

Please submit your resume along with a brief introduction describing your recruiting experience, the types of roles you have filled, and why you are interested in helping build the ProWest team.
