Imaging Service Engineer
Location: Greater Chicago Area, Illinois
Salary: 80,000- 110,000
The Opportunity:
An established healthcare services organisation is seeking an experienced Imaging Service Engineer to join its technical services team in the Greater Chicago Area. This is a hands-on engineering position focused on the service, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of diagnostic imaging equipment within a healthcare environment.
The successful engineer will work closely with clinical and technical teams to maximise equipment availability, resolve technical issues and ensure imaging systems remain safe, reliable and available for patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Service, maintain and repair diagnostic imaging equipment.
Perform scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance.
Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, mechanical and system-level faults.
Diagnose equipment failures and complete repairs or component replacements as required.
Perform equipment inspections, testing and calibration.
Work with manufacturer technical support to resolve complex equipment issues.
Respond effectively to equipment failures and minimise system downtime.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance and service activity.
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with relevant safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
Communicate equipment status and technical issues clearly with clinical departments.
Provide technical guidance and support to other biomedical and imaging engineers.
Assist with the technical development and cross-training of less experienced engineers.
Participate in an on-call rotation when required.
Experience & Qualifications
5+ years of experience servicing diagnostic imaging or radiology equipment preferred.
Strong hands-on experience troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing medical imaging equipment.
OEM and/or multi-vendor imaging service experience is highly desirable.
Previous experience within a hospital, healthcare service organisation or field service environment is beneficial.
Strong electrical, electronic and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
Ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex equipment issues.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work effectively with clinical teams, technical colleagues and equipment manufacturers.
Education & Technical Training
Associate degree or technical qualification in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, Medical Imaging Technology or a related discipline preferred.
Equivalent military technical training will also be considered.
Relevant OEM imaging service training and certifications are advantageous.
CRES or other relevant industry certifications are beneficial but not essential.
