Overview
Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for an ID&C Software Developer supporting the Test and Operations Sustainment (TOS) II contract at Arnold Air Force Base in Tullahoma, TN. As an ID&C Software Developer, you will work as a key member of an integrated engineering team responsible for the hands-on design, development, optimization, and real-time data distribution of software systems in aeropropulsion, wind tunnel, and Hypersonics facilities. This includes creating and managing high-speed data stream processing software in an aerospace ground test environment.

Job Summary
The successful candidate will serve as a hands-on ID&C Software Developer, applying advanced programming, packet formatting, and real-time messaging skills to build and sustain complex applications that capture, process, and distribute high-volume aerospace test data.

Under the direction of software engineering and facility management, you will develop high-speed communications drivers, data packet structures for ultra-low latency streaming, such as Data Distribution Service (DDS) to support data acquisition and redistribution. You will play a central role in writing, debugging, and maintaining clean code to support advanced wind tunnels, rocket motor test cells, and Hypersonics.

Job Duties:
- Develop, test, and maintain robust real-time applications using C/C++ and Python.
- Define, parse, and optimize custom binary and serialized network data packet structures to ensure highly efficient, low-overhead transmission of high-frequency data streams.
- Implement and configure Data Distribution Service (DDS) along with TCP/IP & UDP sockets to manage distributed, publish-subscribe data systems with precise Quality of Service (QoS) constraints.
- Develop, debug, and scale low-latency data ingestion pipeline scripts to handle complex calculations in data storage, archiving, and real-time visualization applications.
- Utilize Git-based version control (GitLab, with exposure to CI/CD pipelines) and modern development environments (including CLion, PyCharm, and Visual Studio) to maintain codebase security, version integrity, and follow strict configuration control practices.
- Collaborate with instrumentation, control, and electrical engineers to integrate custom software with hardware.
- Apply software security best practices to meet Federal Information Assurance and Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity guidelines.
- Participate in and foster a team environment based on technical excellence, transparency, mutual trust, continuous learning, and active problem-solving.
- It is a condition of employment to wear company-issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
- Perform other related duties that include executing additional technical, operational, or administrative programming tasks as required to support the contract mission.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or another STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline from an accredited college or university.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in software development, which must include work with software design, coding, testing, and Git version control.
- A masters degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering may substitute for 1 year of the required experience; OR completion of a software-specific internship of 3 months or more may substitute for 6 months of the required experience.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret level security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network.
- S. Citizenship is required due to Air Force security requirements at AEDC.

Preferred Qualifications
- DDS Proficiency: Direct experience implementing, tuning, or debugging Data Distribution Service (DDS) publish-subscribe systems or similar industrial messaging broker systems.
- Packet Structure Design: Demonstrated understanding of network programming, socket communication, byte-alignment, custom packet headers, and data serialization techniques.
- Embedded & Real-Time Operating Systems: Experience programming in real-time Linux & Windows environments or writing low-level device drivers.
- Agile Frameworks: Experience working within Agile development methodologies (Scrum/Kanban), using tools like Jira or GitLab issues for sprint planning.
- Security Certification: Active CompTIA Security+ certification, or a higher-level cybersecurity certification.
- Active Security Clearance: Possess an active DoD Security Clearance.
