Key Responsibilities- Conduct site surveys and existing condition assessments for IT/Communications systems.
- Prepare and present technology evaluation reports and equipment selection recommendations.
- Lead the conceptual and detailed design of IT/Communications systems.
- Coordinate designs with architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical teams.
- Develop tender drawings and technical specifications for bid packages.
- Support project management activities, including client engagement and contractor coordination.
- Participate in construction administration (RFIs, submittal reviews, site meetings).
- Collaborate closely with internal multi-disciplinary teams and external consultants.
- Engage with clients to understand project objectives and provide technical guidance.
- Stay current on emerging IT/Communications technologies and industry developments.
- Mentor and support junior team members as part of professional development efforts.
- Contribute to the firm's knowledge base and continuous improvement initiatives.
RequirementsSkills & Experience - Proven experience in the design of IT networks, communications cabling systems, and IT infrastructure within building environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and REVIT for developing design and construction documentation.
- Working knowledge of relevant industry standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI, IEEE) and best practices for IT/Communications design.
- Practical experience conducting site assessments and surveys for IT/Communications systems.
- Familiarity with structured cabling, wireless systems, data center infrastructure, and LAN/WAN networks.
- Strong understanding of consulting engineering workflows and multi-disciplinary project coordination.
- Experience supporting construction administration processes (RFIs, submittal reviews, site meetings).
- RCDD certification or willingness to pursue certification.
- Professional Engineering (P.Eng) designation or eligibility is considered an asset.
- Exposure to Smart Building technologies, IoT systems, AV systems, or building automation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare technical reports and present to clients.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Interest in or experience with sustainable building design and energy-efficient technologies.
- Collaborative team player with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to project challenges.
