Full Job Description
SUMMARY The I&E Planner is responsible for developing detailed job plans and schedules for instrumentation and electrical maintenance activities. This role supports efficient and safe execution of work by ensuring the right scope, labor, tools, materials, and permits are identified and prepared in advance. The I&E Planner plays a key role in supporting plant reliability and minimizing equipment downtime.

RESPONSIBILITIES -
  • Develop and maintain accurate job plans for preventive, corrective, and predictive I&E maintenance activities.
  • Identify labor requirements, task durations, tools, materials, permits, and safety requirements for each job.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to prioritize work based on production needs and equipment condition.
  • Create and manage work orders in the CMMS (e.g., SAP, Maximo, Infor) and track job progress and completion.
  • Ensure all work packages include proper documentation: P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring schematics, calibration procedures, etc.
  • Order and reserve parts, equipment, and tools in coordination with procurement and the storeroom.
  • Schedule jobs in coordination with operations and other disciplines to minimize downtime and avoid conflicts.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and reliability initiatives for recurring I&E issues.
  • Ensure all planned work is compliant with electrical codes, instrumentation standards (e.g., ISA), and site safety policies.
  • Support turnaround, outage, or capital project planning for I&E scope as needed.


JOB REQUIREMENTS -

Education/Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification in electrical/instrumentation preferred.
  • 5+ years of I&E maintenance experience in an industrial or energy setting, with at least 1-2 years in a planning role.

Certifications (Preferred):
  • ISA Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST)
  • Electrical Journeyman License
  • CMMS system training (SAP, Maximo, etc.)
  • OSHA 30 or NFPA 70E certification

Skills:
  • Strong understanding of I&E systems: PLCs, DCS, VFDs, transmitters, analyzers, relays, motors, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, loop sheets, and technical manuals.
  • Proficient in CMMS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with industrial safety practices and work permitting systems.


Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform site walk-downs, climb ladders, and access equipment in various industrial settings.
  • May involve working in both indoor and outdoor environments, including elevated temperatures and confined spaces.
