HGA is currently hiring for an
Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Lead to support client operations in
Rayville, Louisiana. The Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Lead serves on the Owner's Team and is responsible for full lifecycle ownership of the I&C discipline across design, installation, testing, and startup for a combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) facility. This role ensures that control system architecture, instrumentation, protection schemes, and interlocks are properly engineered, installed, verified, and commissioned in alignment with project specifications and safety standards.
Responsibilities- Lead oversight of I&C engineering deliverables including control system architecture, instrument index/lists, loop diagrams, logic diagrams, cause & effect matrices, and communications infrastructure
- Ensure all I&C designs align with P&IDs and overall project intent
- Manage I&C documentation through J.E.D.I. stages (IFR/IFRC, IFD, IFP, IFF, IFC) and ensure field execution matches IFC drawings
- Track and resolve field changes, redlines, and as-built updates
- Plan and execute I&C walkdowns, loop checks, functional testing, interlock verification, and acceptance testing
- Drive closure of QA/QC deficiencies, punch list items, and test discrepancies
- Lead commissioning and energization activities, including pre-energization checklists and staged system energization
- Verify protection systems, interlocks, and trip logic prior to startup
- Support first fire and synchronization activities
- Coordinate with EPC teams, OEM vendors, and Owner stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently
- Provide weekly reporting on loop closure, defects, test results, and commissioning readiness
- Support monthly reporting and project status updates
- Develop and maintain key deliverables including test procedures, FAT/SAT documentation, energization plans, and turnover packages
Required Qualifications- 10-15+ years of Instrumentation & Controls experience in CCGT, power generation, or large-scale industrial/process facilities
- Strong experience with DCS, SIS, and PLC systems
- Working knowledge of NEC and ISA standards
- Proven experience in commissioning, startup, and protection scheme validation
- Demonstrated ability to manage document control and field execution alignment
- Experience coordinating across EPC, QA/QC, HSE, and OEM teams
- Strong reporting and project tracking skills
- Proficiency in tools such as InEight, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Oil & Gas experience with transferable skills considered
Preferred Qualifications- Mega project experience highly preferred
- Combined cycle project experience strongly preferred
