Overview

We are seeking an Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer to join our team. The candidate is required to work on the design and development of I&C systems on project involving new design of Small Modular Reactors for Nuclear plants.

Your role

  • Assist in development, preparation of engineering procurement support deliverables (e.g. equipment and component specifications, calculations, bills of materials (BOMs), technical assessments, vendor document evaluations etc.) for both nuclear and conventional systems in accordance with AtkinsRéalis/Candu Energy Quality Assurance Programs and project requirements.
  • Prepare and/or review procurement engineering documentation such as Procurement Requisitions, Engineering Quotation Request Packages(s) and Technical Tender Evaluations for Instrumentation and Control equipment and materials.
  • Provide input to the drawing office for the preparation of various I&C related engineering drawings such as general arrangement drawings, instrument loop diagrams, wiring and connection diagrams, bills of materials, etc.
  • Provide I&C design support to the construction team in the field for the execution of I&C design packages.
  • Review and acceptance of Manufacturer's documentation (Procedures, Inspection and Test Plans, Non-Conformances and/or Design Deviation Requests) and obtain client acceptance, as required.
  • Interface with various engineering disciplines, suppliers, and other areas of the company.
  • Assist in providing responses to technical enquiries from design review teams and regulatory agencies.
  • Assist in providing technical support to engineering groups at site for installation and commissioning.
  • Deliver technical presentations accurately and effectively.
  • Manage assigned work effectively, including prioritizing, executing, managing schedule and budget, and reporting, to meet project goals.


About you

  • Engineering Degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent degree as recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario OR eligible to be registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of related work experience in Instrumentation and Control engineering, relevant instrumentation design deliverables, preparation of procurement engineering packages and implementation/construction support experience (experience with green field construction and/or nuclear industry are assets).
  • Previous experience at an operating nuclear power station or a similar installation not required but would be an asset.
  • Demonstrate good technical skills and problem-solving capabilities and be able to seek practical solutions to procurement engineering problems.
  • Shall have fundamental technical knowledge to resolve procurement engineering issues or technical problems.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation and control system functions, configurations and equipment as used for nuclear plant process systems, safety systems, or safety-related systems, or for similar systems in other industries would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with industrial/nuclear QA programs and procedures along with pertinent CSA, IEEE, or related I&C engineering codes and standards would be an asset.
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
