Job Description

Sacré-Davey has an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer with experience in Industrial and commercial HVAC and refrigeration design. We are seeking a technically capable, self-directed individual with excellent organizational and communication skills and a high degree of initiative. An ideal candidate will have previous experience in either the food and beverage or manufacturing industries, will operate with a sense of urgency, and be adept at handling multiple tasks.

This opportunity is available to contractors however we are open to full time employment for the right candidate.

Responsibilities
  • Maintains involvement with all technical details of the project; works closely with discipline leads to resolve design and construction issues and with the execution of any required changes. Performs engineering design and checking as required.
  • Perform engineering design of industrial refrigeration and HVAC systems, as well as plant equipment and piping design.
  • Review and confirm engineering deliverables are complete, technically accurate, and in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Coordinates and reviews work to ensure that quality control requirements are met, in accordance with the company's practices and procedures.
  • Acts as the primary technical point of contact for the client; leads internal technical discussions and communications.
  • Support equipment procurement by producing purchasing documentation, soliciting quotations, and evaluating vendor bids.
  • Produce engineering proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and other documentation to support project development.
  • Provide design advice and support to designers and AutoCAD operators.
  • Maintain health, safety, and environmental focus to ensure that these elements are embedded in the design and procurement processes.
  • As required, monitors construction activities to ensure project plans are followed; interprets drawings for contractors and vendors and responds to technical inquiries as needed.
  • Provides task planning, cost control, and resource forecasting for engineering and other technical activities related to the project; monitors progress and provides reports both internally and to the client.


Qualifications
  • Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering (P. Eng. accredited with EGBC required).
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience, including experience with HVAC, industrial refrigeration, industrial wastewater treatment, boilers, and air compressors, preferably in the industrial or manufacturing sectors.
  • Cross-functional knowledge and experience with process P&IDs and process design, as well as coordination experience with civil/structural and electrical design, is preferred.
  • Project engineering and construction management skills and experience are considered a strong asset.
  • Excellent grasp of engineering principles and experience assessing complex systems.
  • Ability to work in both a design office and operating plant environments.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
