HVAC / Building Automation Systems (BAS) Technician II

Northern New Jersey

Schneider Electric is looking for an HVAC / Building Automation Systems (BAS) Technician II to support customers throughout Northern New Jersey. This is a hands-on, customer-facing service role focused on troubleshooting, maintaining, commissioning, and improving HVAC and building automation systems.

Ideally, we are seeking someone with an electrical technician or low-voltage electrical background and at least 2 years of experience with HVAC controls, BAS/BMS, or building automation systems. We will also consider strong HVAC service technicians with excellent diagnostic skills and an interest in expanding their building controls expertise.

What You'll Do
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC, BAS/BMS, and Energy Management Systems
  • Troubleshoot both hardware and software, including controllers, sensors, VAVs, AHUs, panels, networks, and system front ends
  • Perform service, preventative maintenance, commissioning, and system startup
  • Install and troubleshoot low-voltage wiring and panel terminations using drawings and submittals
  • Work with building automation protocols such as BACnet and Modbus
  • Identify system deficiencies and recommend improvements or modifications
  • Communicate directly with customers and provide professional updates throughout the troubleshooting process
  • Work independently to assess problems and resolve customer issues
  • Support commissioning activities and coordinate with project teams and third-party commissioning agents
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to time-sensitive customer needs

What We're Looking For
  • 2+ years of HVAC controls, BAS/BMS, building automation, or HVAC service experience
  • Electrical technician or low-voltage electrical background strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems and building controls
  • Experience troubleshooting controllers, sensors, VAVs, AHUs, wiring, and related control systems
  • Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, networking, and BAS software
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and remain effective during urgent service situations
  • Two-year technical degree or equivalent HVAC controls/BAS/BMS related experience

For this U.S. based position, the expected pay range is USD 68,000 - USD 102,000 per year. This pay range includes base pay and short-term incentives. The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our pay ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the pay range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
