Job Description Summary:The High Voltage Project Detailer is responsible for performing detailed quantity takeoffs, material analysis, constructability reviews, and project detailing for high-voltage substation projects. This role supports preconstruction, estimating, procurement, engineering, and operations teams by developing accurate material quantities, labor assumptions, project documentation, and constructible design details. The position is critical to ensuring accurate project budgets, successful bid proposals, and efficient project execution.
This role is fully remote. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:Estimating & Quantity Takeoffs
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from engineering drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
- Quantify major substation components including:
- Foundations
- Structural steel
- Grounding systems
- Bus systems
- Conduit systems
- Cable tray systems
- Control cable
- Power cable
- Equipment terminations
- Fencing and site development components
- Develop material quantity reports and bill of material (BOM) summaries.
- Verify scope completeness and identify design gaps, inconsistencies, and potential cost impacts.
- Assist in developing labor units, productivity assumptions, and installation durations.
- Support estimate development for EPC, design-build, and utility substation projects.
Project Detailing & Design Support
- Develop and review construction detail drawings and project layouts.
- Interpret electrical, structural, civil, and protection & control drawings.
- Create material tracking documents and procurement packages.
- Assist with constructability reviews during preconstruction and project planning.
- Coordinate drawing revisions and maintain project document control.
- Support engineering teams with design reviews and field revisions.
Procurement & Material Management
- Generate procurement-ready material lists.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to verify material requirements.
- Assist procurement teams in identifying long-lead equipment and materials.
- Support material forecasting and inventory planning.
- Review vendor quotations and verify scope alignment.
Project Execution Support
- Assist project managers with budget tracking and quantity reconciliation.
- Support change order development through quantity verification and scope analysis.
- Review field reports and as-built information for quantity validation.
- Participate in project turnover and closeout documentation.
Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Drafting, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 to 7 years of experience in:
- Electrical construction
- High-voltage substations
- Industrial electrical projects
- Estimating or detailing roles
- Estimating software platforms
- One-line diagrams
- Three-line diagrams
- Site plans
- Protection and control drawings
- Experience with substation voltages ranging from 12kV through 500kV.
- Knowledge of utility standards and practices.
- Autodesk Construction Cloud
- Familiarity with EPC and utility project delivery methods.
- Understanding of equipment installation requirements and sequencing.
- Strong understanding of substation construction methods and materials.
- Advanced quantity takeoff and material management skills.
- Ability to identify scope gaps and cost risks before project award.
- Strong understanding of electrical and civil construction drawings.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and document management abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple bids and projects simultaneously.
- Effective communication and collaboration with engineering, estimating, procurement, and operations teams.
Physical Requirements:- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
- Occasional travel to project sites for field verification and constructability reviews.
- Ability to access active construction sites and perform site walks as needed.
